Title: LPG Tank for 3.2
Post by: tunnie on 10 January 2013, 12:45:28
Does it have to be multi-hole? Or can I get away with single?

I recall multi ones only benefit is for fuelling faster?  :-\ :-\

You can burn the fuel faster too. ;)

May not be an issue in this case, though. :-X

I would go 4 hole every time, TBH. If you get a decent multivalve you'll get away with it, I'm sure, but for the minimal extra outlay I would have the reassurance that it will flow well enough.

Only reason I ask is Guffers has a 90L single going cheap...

It would probably run OK, TBH, and if the multivalve turned out to be restrictive, it's not a huge outlay for a new one. It worked OK on a 2.5, after all... :-\ Or was his a 3.0? Can't recall. :-\

Single hole will work with a decent Multivalve but the 90L doesn't just drop in, it's a little more complicated ;)

Thing is i've noticed with the 90L (which is my 2.2) its not that easy to get the spare tyre out  ::)  :-X

Yours is a different size tank though ;) I'm sure Guffers' one is a 400mm dia tank, the same as I had in my saloon ;)

Ah  :-[

Whats involved in making it fit? Because if I can get kit from OOF supplier at a good rate, plus this tank, should be quite a cheap conversion  :)

Similar to your saloon... Need to line up bolt holes (but Guffer has probably done that for you ;) Ideally, remove bose amp so it will slide in but I manhandled mine and then had to mess about tightening the straps with virtually no room ::)

Worst case scenario is that you have to get a new Multivalve (Emer do a high flow IIRC) for £70 at a guess. Mind you, with your driving style you could probably tip the LPG in with a funnel and still get enough flow rate :-X :D

Whilst I run a high flow multivalve in the bullet (BRC IIRC), I'd recommend a 4 hole every time on a 3.2

Brand new tank it is then, ah well. Worth a go!

No worries, there's no frame.  It remained on the car, no time to remove and it was just a couple of metal bars from B&Q :y

Was hoping it would do, save quite a bit compared to new tank :(

Been some improvements on them now though ;) But I would still recommend a 4-Hole on a 3.2 and also paying out for the JIC Filler hose for the quicker fill :y

With the need to purchase a new Multi Valve, Frame and straps I think I'd go down the new route anyway TBH ;)

He might have the bits for front end and might have some tanks. He's officially closed this week and rather unwell so I haven't hassled him ;) But tanks are easy enough... Tinley do them (albeit a bit pricey IMHO) as do many ohers, including FES :y

Cheers might be asking for some recommendations once I maybe get front end kit from him :)

Emer multivalve on my 3.2. No issues at all. :y

I didnt see the point of extra holes and work. Plus my installer would have changed mine there was any issues at all.

Hmmm, thanks D  :y

Wonder if it's worth a go for the money. Worst case just buy new one and sell old one if I encounter performance issues

If you're really trying to do it cheaply then go for it ;) Emer Multivalve shouldn't be too pricey and a frame is cheap enough ;)

But fitting it will be a little trickier. But no reason not to. Like I said... I'd go new but not essential :y

multivalve more than adequate on an omega.the inlet hole on the vapouriser will be smaller than the outlet hole of the multivalve. :y
