Title: Thats killed the dishwasher!
Post by: Taxi_Driver on 07 April 2013, 19:09:45
My DW (indesit ids105w) has been playing up for ages, sometimes stopping halfway thro and flashing the start/pause light.
It did it this morning, stopping 1/2way through the wash. Doing a google on the fault seemed to thro up blocked pump, so for the last 3 hours I've stripped it down, cleaned all the crap out of both pumps put it back together, stripped it back down again, when it flooded the kitchen  :-[ and put it back together again.

Now it starts the program, stops after about 1 min with the wash light flashing and isnt filling with water now  >:(

Maybe they dont like being tipped on their sides, ie the salt shifts inside the machine and blocks summat  :-\

Well , Ive given up with for now, but if doesnt start working after ive given it good thrashing.....its new dishwasher time me thinks.....unless some bright spark on here tells me whats wrong with it....

ohhhhh just had a thought  :-\

We have two Indesit dishwashers.

The newest works fine and appears to work as it should........

The older one has developed a life of its own. Mrs V uses wash number 4 whilst I use 3. They vary wildly one day to another in the time they run.

|I used to worry about stuff like that being a portent of imminent failure or a fire. Now I just think of it as personality.......

How does the pump on yours get blocked when there is at least one filter?

kinked hose on refit?  Although Indeshit tend to use those hard hoses

I'm intimately familiar with my dishwasher. It needs a new cutlery tray and a new soap dispenser (though current bodge working well), so probably cheaper to just buy a new machine?

Nope wasnt what i thought.....thought id left a very small push on pipe disconnected from the pump, but i hadnt  :(

Might be, i'll check another time, im fed up with it tonight....and the connection hoses are very flexible soft, altho i didnt remove any, coz they've got those crap 'use only once' clips holding them on.

Didnt seem to be food waste.......more like limescale bits.....i didnt use to put salt in the machine as i always put 4in1 or 5in1 tabs in it......which has got salt included......but i noted from the instructions a while ago, they recommend adding salt even if the tabs have salt in them, so i have been doing so for the last 6 months or so....but it ran for 2 1/2 years without the extra salt.

Thats does concern me a tad with its original fault, it used to stop mid wash, but carried on heating the water, it used to make kettle noises heating the water.....neighbour of mine was very lucky a few years ago......hers actually caught fire, but luckily she and her hubby were still in when it happened, hubby had the common sense to kill the main circuit breaker and soak it with hose pipe.....apart from a wet kitchen, they were very lucky....

Well, it lives again!  ;D

No one spotted i mentioned that originally i flooded the kitchen floor after putting it back together the first time  ::)

And the fault why it wouldnt fill with water, was coz the anti flood device was dripping in water  ;D

Took it off, dried it up best i could, stuck it back on and its at present doing a 35 min quick wash.

We shall see if the original fault has gone too......but i was surprised to see that the main pump is an induction motor, so any slight bit of crud stopping the vanes from starting to turn is gonna stop the pump dead.

I'll try a longer wash tonight to see what happens  :y

Fear not Dave, if you spilt any I doubt it would have time to stain the carpet before it got hoovered up.

you could try the sensor that tells it its full of water.

If that goes wrong it'll get half-way through the cycle and think its got too much water on board and stop.

don't ask me how I know

I'd be amazed if your newish bosch one lasts as long as your old bosch one.....

BTW my old dishwasher was bosch and lasted about 15years as well ...... BUT that was a £500 machine and when bosch were good at what they made.....i highly doubt bosch machines are as good these days..... this indesit was £200, so if it makes 5/6 years it'll be as good as the bosch  :y
