Finally got the video to play. ::)
Looks interesting. Appearance reminded me of the PW-5 Smyk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politechnika_Warszawska_PW-5 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politechnika_Warszawska_PW-5) which I tried out when a demonstrator toured here when it was first launched. Similar wingspan but much lighter. I can see it behaves similarly on the winch (well, car, in this case!) launch due to the tail boom pitching it sharply nose-up as soon as it starts accelerating. :o
The glide performance is pretty poor in comparison, thanks to the lightness. On the other hand, that would allow it to stay aloft in much weaker lift, and looking at the low speed turns it was doing in that video, I reckon it would be a hoot in the UK's weak thermals and outclimb most gliders (but not stand a chance of keeping up with them across country).
It's also clearly a lot easier on the back to rig and de-rig than my glider (empty weight 246kg), which would be most welcome.
Not sure I like the idea of a foot landing. I wouldn't want to subject my legs to some of the landings I've made. :-X
Aerotows are getting a bit pricey these days due to the cost of fuel, so a self-launching option would be great, if only Hampshire had a few more mountains for me to jump off. Not sure Butser hill would do it, somehow. :-\
I wonder how much it costs?

Cheap fuel

This video gives a nice view of what it's all about.. Taken in the cockpit of an LS4, similar to mine.
The higher the pitch of the beeping the faster the glider is climbing in the thermal.

Great! Learning to fly is on my bucket list!! :y Best get on with it then.. ;D
Think I'd get dizzy gliding though, as it seems there's a lot of going round in circles.... :-\ :)

You need to find some mountains. :y

I did a gliding course when I was young, about the same time I also spent some time flying small aircraft. Gliding won hands down :y

Absolutely agreed. :y Powered aircraft are noisy, smelly and, IMHO, once you can take off, land and point it in the right direction to get where you're going, it's hard to see where you go to develop your skills further, unless you've got a bottomless pit of money. I prefer life on the other end of the tow rope where every day's flying challenges you in different ways. ;)
