... is it always the passenger side! Bought the 2.2 in 2005, around 2008 front passenger headlight bulb went, so popped some night breakers in there.
Then just before my Austria trip this winter, the passenger light blew. (the day before I was due to go!)
Guess what came on the MID yesterday & guess which side of bulb has gone ::)
Also means Halfords bulbs are shit, as the previous Osram Night-Breakers lasted 4 years easy, Halfords? Less than 9 months! >:(
-
All connections sound? Bulb loose? :-\
-
Got grubby Tunnie finger prints on it...?
-
Got grubby Tunnie finger prints on it...?
Good idea! :y :y
-
Always avoided finger prints on it, gadget hands here remember, no fat hands.
Recall bulb change went fairly smoothly last time, always kept hold of the metal base, never touched glass.
-
Bulbs dont last like they use to :( And certainly not easy to replace like on the capri ::)
-
Busted adjuster that side, bouncing the bulb about?
-
..... And certainly not easy to replace like on the capri ::)
Be just need to be thankful that we still don't use sealed beam headlamps like MKI Capris did ;) ;) ;)
-

On that car the vibration could be coming from anywhere ;D
-
Halfords bulbs aside, as their known to be shite, is that a bad failure rate, really?
With a bit of coincidence thrown in :-\
...and surely there was a huge difference in brightness with the Halfords ones?
-
Yeah there was, however it was day before my trip, so needs must.
Just ordered pair of Osram Night breakers "plus" - So just in time for the winter :)
-

My last 2 Capris had all four lights replaced with H4 units and another relay. I finally ended up with Capris that were drivable in the dark.
My sister's 1300Morris now has Range Rover H4 light units. Which were free(a mate had 'upgraded' his RR to nasty looking clear crystal ones), a straight swap, and very effective.

Quite possible, a slightly dodgy earth will also cause early demise.

See, no idea on the earth thingy. As you can tell, from zero electrical content in my posts. :( ;D
-
Will have a good inspect, fairly sure the adjuster is bust. As there was a lot of movement when re-fitting the bulb in the winter, will stick these new Osrams in there. See how long they last :)
-
Vibration and poor connections kill bulbs.
So fix the adjusters (£12 a side) and clean up any connectors. The problem won't go away until you do.
-
Tunnie, I've heard that quick driving lengthens the life of bulbs ::)

Tunnie, I've heard that quick driving lengthens the life of bulbs ::)
I don't think I've ever blown a headlight or full beam bulb on any Omega. Maybe there is something in that...
...except neither has Mrs TB, and she drives almost as slowly as the tunster...
-
Cheeky buggers!
-
Tunnie, get the adjusters, Mrs TB and I will help changing them.
They may will need retweaking at MOT time, but monkeynuts normally does that anyway

Cheers :y :y

It's ok, don't worry. Society is quite accepting these days. I know your an old fashioned fellow, and that's fine, but you'll feel much better if you just tell us all about it. Tunnie won't mind, he's used to it by now. :y

Lizzie tells me he's quite an attractive boy, so I guess its understandable. Come on, just get it out in the open, and its fine then, apparently. :-\
Everyone will know and we can just move on. See? It'll be no drama, and you can stop stressing about it.
Now, is there something you'd like to tell everyone? :)

Can't leave anyone alone for 5 mins can I :-\ :-\ :-\
Tunnie nick name came about as when I was at college, I had a Christmas job at Curry's. Lobbing TV's down a conveyor belt ::)
But there were 5 Mark's working there, so it got confusing. As my surname is a little unusual, I got the nick name Tunnie :)
Forgot about it for years really, until I needed forum names, this one worked well :)
-
I had a Christmas job at Curry's. Lobbing TV's down a conveyor belt ::)
Sounded like a most enjoyable job ;D

Most were by accident, honest ::)
Back in the days of CRT's, the storage area had an up stairs, with a big conveyor belt going up stairs. Lobbed 32" TV on it, bit too well, as it rolled once, then as it was going down hill, well ::)
7 rotations later it was at the bottom, work mate popped it on a trolley and out it went to the customer ;D
Never buy from Currys! :D

Bought a fridge freezer from there this year :'( You cant lob them about though ;D
