Headlight Bulb gone, but why...
« on: 04 October 2013, 19:11:27 »

... is it always the passenger side! Bought the 2.2 in 2005, around 2008 front passenger headlight bulb went, so popped some night breakers in there.

Then just before my Austria trip this winter, the passenger light blew. (the day before I was due to go!)

Guess what came on the MID yesterday & guess which side of bulb has gone  ::)

Also means Halfords bulbs are shit, as the previous Osram Night-Breakers lasted 4 years easy, Halfords? Less than 9 months!  >:(

Always avoided finger prints on it, gadget hands here remember, no fat hands.

Recall bulb change went fairly smoothly last time, always kept hold of the metal base, never touched glass.

Busted adjuster that side, bouncing the bulb about?

Be just need to be thankful that we still don't use sealed beam headlamps like MKI Capris did  ;) ;) ;)

Halfords bulbs aside, as their known to be shite, is that a bad failure rate, really?

With a bit of coincidence thrown in :-\

...and surely there was a huge difference in brightness with the Halfords ones?

My last 2 Capris had all four lights replaced with H4 units and another relay. I finally ended up with Capris that were drivable in the dark.
My sister's 1300Morris now has Range Rover H4 light units. Which were free(a mate had 'upgraded' his RR to nasty looking clear crystal ones), a straight swap, and very effective.

Quite possible, a slightly dodgy earth will also cause early demise.

See, no idea on the earth thingy. As you can tell, from zero electrical content in my posts. :( ;D

Will have a good inspect, fairly sure the adjuster is bust. As there was a lot of movement when re-fitting the bulb in the winter, will stick these new Osrams in there. See how long they last  :)
