Title: Power
Post by: pauls on 29 November 2013, 18:23:43
As I seem to be on a roll today for asking questions here's another one just to bore you some more. (sorry day off work and to much coffee) ;D ;D

If I do decide to keep my 2.6 is they anyway to increase low down power eg 0 to 60.

I have already dropped 3ltr cams in it but this is only noticiable at the top end of the rev range. Any thing else that will just drop in.

Cant drop a 3ltr or 3.2ltr engine in not cost effective.

3.2 should be a straight swap I would imagine. Although you would need the engine ECU, AR35 box, and possibly diff to go with it.
Had you asked about this a couple of months ago I had a good 3.2 engine with ECU etc and AR 35 box here that could have been yours for  £300. ::)

Proper gearbox might help matters :-\ 3.2 ECU should be plug and play, might make it sit up a bit  :y

Surely a 3.0 or 3.2l engine is the most cost effective thing you could do? After all you only need a bare engine, which is £200-£300.

Chipping the ecu will liberate around 10-12 bhp and offer a more flexible drive. My 2.5 was chipped.

Why not fit a 50bhp wet nitrous system with controller

Or just fit a 3.2 ecu ::)

Car already has 3.0 cams and better flowing manifolds, only need the key chip, transponder and alarm ecu to make it run :y

yep.. proper gearbox.. drop a manual in. although not that stratightforward.. 0-60 around 1.3-1.4 secs faster .. and if your diff is 4.22 time difference will be higher

I was under the impression a 3.2 ecu in to a 2.6 wouldn't make any difference? :)

The Engine ECU is coded to the rest, won't fire without it :y not sure the alarm ecu is entirely neccesary thinking about it :-\

Quick and easy way to find out ::)

I enquired about it but was told it wouldn't make any difference unless someone can say otherwise. Hence why I had a chipped ecu instead.  ???

Not possible on the 2.6/3.2 ;)

Just on the 2.5 and 3.0 then.  :D cheers. Take it they can be remapped still.

Sell the 2.6 engine and aquire a 3.2 one for reasonable pennies ;)
