Title: How to watch F1 this season
Post by: Webby the Bear on 07 March 2014, 22:04:57
Hi guys, I'm hoping you can help.

We have Freeview at home and therefore don't have the F1 channel.

I've looked in to upgrading to include this (I don't need any other channels, just want this one) but I have to subscribe to a sports package. is there any way I can watch this online for free? Not looking for illegitimate ways you understand; just wondered if I can set something up online as there's loadsa talk about watching it online but I have no idea what to do as I am a bit techno-phobic  :'(

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I would think a Now TV box and subscribe to sky sports would be the simplest legal way to do it.

Need reasonable broadband speed though

I make do with BBC coverage on freeview and to be honest some of the races are better in highlights format. :y
I think you can watch RTV for free but not sure how, I am sure someone will provide the details. :y

Works fine on my 2.0mbps BT broadband  :-X

Best to buy passes on eBay than paying full whack sky/NowTV prices. Loads on there with huge savings HTH :y

Yes, that's the NowTV price.

To be honest though, check out Sky Sports Mobile TV in the App stores, its £4.99 per month for Sky Sports1,2,3,4 SSN, SN & F1  :y

Only downside of course is it's mobile only...

I do have discount codes for Sky currently, as Sky is celebrating it's 25th birthday. The 'Complete Bundle' in HD for just £25 per month for 25 months (usually £67.25).

This includes the following:

Entertainment Extra+
Sky Sports
Sky Movies
HD Pack
Free Sky+HD box
Free standard set up
Sky Go
On Demand

Sorry yes, new customers defined as someone who has not been with Sky for 12 months or more.

We do always ask for current customer discounts, but rarely get them  :(

Well I have only got 7 days left to come up with a solution here in Spain since Sky went out on a more compact beam that can no longer be received.

Options

1. RTL via a small sat dish and stream Radio 5 commentary. This is actually what my brother does in England. He has the satellite dish nailed to a large log in the garden. I have a spare dish.

2. Get Spanish TV working. We have an aerial but live in a dead zone for signal. Could try and get paid for TDT satellite TV working with a free card for "dead zone" customers.

3. Get my satellite Internet working. It is all connected but due to recovering from an operation, I can't get up to point the dish. Might be a five minute job of five hours....... Then I could install a VPN and watch UK TV in limited quantity.

4. Sports Bar with Spanish commentary.

5. Recorded DVD posted by family.

6. Wait till after race and read OOF forum entry of race.

The clock is ticking...........  :o :o :o :o
