So todays problem, driving home today and as I pull up in traffic its idling rough and then after a few seconds the car with a spanner light comes on. When I pull away I think the gearbox is in limp mode as it feels like snow mode is engaged.
Read to codes and I've got:
B0117 Pending Generic Passenger-Side Air Bag Circuit Low Input
C0000 Pending Mfr-spec Code definition not known - please refer to car service manual
Not sure what the airbag has to do with anything and does anyone know what C0000 is?
Many thanks
Steve

do the pedal trick to see the codes stored. might find some more stored are relavent to your symptoms.
-
Thank you
It's a 2.2, so no pedal trick unfortunately - I've check Engine ECU and TCM and the above is all I seem to have.
If cleared they both come back immediately.

Did anyone have any thoughts on what C0000 is?
Many thanks

Yes, you need a better code reader!
-
If you're near me, I'll happily give you the codes that Tech2 can pull out :)
-
Fair enough, not a real code then?
Tech2 only option I assume?
-
Thank you, in Bournemouth so I don't think its going to make it in its current state unfortunately.

Its giving back guff. Its unclear which ecus its pulling stuff from, which is going to confuddle the issue in hand.
-
Fair enough, looks like I will have to find a way to make it work well enough to get itself to a tech 2.
-
So checked all the normal things for rough running (vacuum leaks, breathers, throttle body, plugs, water / oil in plug wells) and found nothing, so went off for a short drive. Almost immediately 'coolant level' comes up on the MID, car is running rough and spanner light is back on.
Get back home (just) and passenger side top of the radiator has a split with a small fountain coming out!
So I now at least know I need a new radiator, but not mad keen to do all that while I have the original problem - or could the 2 items be related?
Mine has the seperate trans oil cooler, any recomendations for supplier? Or is it VX only?

Radiator linked to looks ok :y it has the built in oil cooler, but you'll struggle to find one without...
Shop around though, you might improve the price a bit :y
As for the other, gearbox level ok? Any slipping or banging :-\
-
No slipping, occational slight thump in slow moving traffic, that is not new however. Fluid level checked fairly recently but will check again when fitting the radiator. Its also running really rough, like a misfire.
I will get the radiator on tomorrow so I can run it and see what happens!
-
Whilst you're obviously going to need a new rad to fix it, I doubt that's the real cause of the fault. I'm not familiar with your engine, but rough running together with blown water pipework/equipment would suggest cylinder head gasket problems to me. You can get sniffer kits off ebay for a few tens of pounds, or get it to a garage and ask them to do a hydrocarbon sniff test on the expansion tank. A gasket leak from bore to water jacket will cause the water jacket to pressurise. A big leak will pressurise the water enough to blow the weakest link which is usually a hose but can be the rad.
-
Disapointing, that would probally be the end of it given its value.

Yes - I know where you're comming from. Don't slit your wrists just yet though - wait for someone with more knowledge of your engine to comment on the likelyhood of a CHG failure being the root cause.
-
HG failing on a 4-pot is normally associated with a short period of "spluttering/misfire" on cold initial start up
-
Finger crossed then, it runs fine from a cold start but runs like a tractor once warm.
I'll get the new rad on in the morning and go from there.

Coilpack ok?
-
Coilpack is about 4 months old and Bosch so I hope ok, but I should not assume anything and will check.

Well carcooling.co.uk seem to have failed to send me a radiator and don't pick up the phone.
Has anyone used them recently? Maybe an inocent explination, but slightly concerned I have paid and now can't get through to them.

The operation is, it seems, just one guy, can be hard to get hold of .. but when you do he "tries" to be helpful .. doesn't always succeed .. but he tries !!
-
They have been in touch and seemed to have received my money but not my order and so it was not sent. Nice chap on the phone and he seems to understand about the need to attached the gearbox oil cooler to the front. Will be with me tomorrow so fingers crossed!

That pedal trick work's on my 02 2.2 ???
-
Well the radiator arrived, but its broken so now I've got to try and sort that out before I can proceed. :-(

I bought two exhaust systems from ETS last year. Mild steel wrapped in several layers of cardboard they had clearly had some rough handling in their journey across Europe.
Being mild steel it was easy to straighten out the dinks in the tailpipes (so I wasn't too fussed) but the force involved must have been sufficient to punch holes in the sides of the courier vehicles...
If it had been a radiator it would have been scrap. :(
-
Eventually got a new and intact radiator and fitted :-)

Unfortunately I think there is a bigger issue, a quantity of steam / drips of water from exhaust, rough running and an exhaust gas smell and 'wisps' from the header tank. (the coolant is cold, its not steam)
https://www.dropbox.com/sc/o70sbysv77ybtzz/_N52u0sVlh
Is that conclusive? Or is there anything else I should test before deciding to scrap it or strip it down?
Are there any OFF mechanics down south?
