Well exactly. I'd never heard of Uber till the strike, now the whole of London knows about it.
An own goal.

Works for Michael O'Leary. I like that bloke from a businessman point of view, even if the service his company provides is shite

Him, dont get that bloke anywhere near Uber, or the Cabbies will be charging extra for carrying Bags in there Cars. ::)

Ryanair policy is simple, you pay for a seat everything else is extra, why do peoples find that hard to comprehend.
-
Über do a first class golf swing comparison app. too.
;D does make me laugh though. We're getting shafted by this company and we're going to tell the world about it! Yes well done, I'll have some of that thankyou very much ;D
-
Yes Ryanair are that transparent, but I will never ever give them my cash. Ever. Mr Really O'Leary being one of many much more significant reasons.
-
I flew Ryanair for the first time from Bournemouth to Lanzagrotte in May, with a bit of trepidation given their reputation! ::)
It was fine, absolutely fine. :y As Biggriff pointed out you pay for a seat. The parachute is extra! ;) ;D

They join a big long list for Luddites by trying to hold back progress and efficiency. progress and efficiency always wins as people like lower prices and better services.
What people forget is that senior union officials get to keep their jobs, while those they represent lose theirs. With driver less cars now on the horizon, which is a much more difficult problem to solve than driver less trains. So why can't we have these with cheaper fares, without strikes every other week and services that start earlier and run later where they are cheaper to run?
The next big battle in a few years will be driver less commercial vehicles which will drive down the cost of many services where 90%+ of our goods are transported by road. :y :y :y

As a work force generally, the sooner we accept we are in direct competition with cheaper economies and markets the better. Or better ideas in this case.
Its often a question of less income or no income at all is some cases ESP in manufacturing being an obvious one. Although this is a slightly different case, the mentality is the same.
Development. Its a funny thing. Ya gota go with it. :)

I could tell you why I won't fly with them and customer service/imaginary charges don't get a look in :-X

Which is why almost everything I own is considerably cheaper, relatively, than it was 30 years ago............ ;) ;)
An example, the Henry Vacuum cleaner, in the early 80's a metal Henry was £99.99 a plastic version was £79.99, a 'Henry' is still available in this price range today...... :y

Both the FAA and CAA have gone to a shitload of effort to stop aircraft cabins from burning. One key way of doing this is to remove all dry waste from cabins by way of regular, intensive cleaning...
See here for the, very, bare bones of it: http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=legal%20requirement%20for%20cleaning%20aircraft%20cabins&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCQQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.who.int%2Fihr%2Fports_airports%2Faviation_guide_p2_en.pdf&ei=s8K4U8DJKeSm0AWzjIHYCw&usg=AFQjCNEBvNIqv_3AKznQSdIXOV5hKxTbVQ&bvm=bv.70138588,d.d2k
Ryanair, for the sake of a few quid, don't bother with the thorough cleaning, prefering to have the crews litterpicking after each sector. This allows small, dry debris to collect unimpeded in all the nooks and crannies. This the creates a significant fire hazard, rendering the latent retardant properties of the aircraft interior useless.
It was not unusual to find a Ryanair aircraft impounded in Diamond Hanger at Stansted due to deliberate ignorance of the CAA requirements to minimise the build up of potentially catastrophic debris.
In 2006, the Cabin Cleaning contract for Easyjet at Gatwick alone was £30,000 per week, Ryanairs was worth about £500... at the time, Easyjet had summat in the order of 15 aircraft based at Gatwick, Ryanair had about 5 iirc
Most airlines, including the likes of Monarch, Thomas Cook and Easyjet will ensure that the aircraft are cleaned properly once a day, and cleaned thoroughly, ie seat cushions lifted etc, once a week...
Both BA and Easyjet spend alot of time and money ensuring their aircraft look their best with fabric seat covers being removed and washed once a month, and carpets being replaced every six to eight weeks.
People may well bleat about Easyjet, especially when they suffer the shitty end of their scheduling, but they do at least try to operate as a professional airline... something Ryanair could never claim to :-X
-
If nothing else, Ryanair have elevated SleezyJet up in to the midrange carrier category.
But I still love O'Leary's attitude to the dumbass BBC and the like when they interview him. He spins their thick presenters in circles, and says what he likes. I find that refreshing, in this corporate, ass kissing, play to the media type world we now live in. Its for similar reasons that I have an immense amount of respect for Alan Sugar.

Flying is like shopping. You can go to the cheaper end, aldi, lidl,=rynair. Tesco, asda=easyjet, coop, morrisons =monarch, flybe, Fortnum-mason=BA.
i wont shop at lidl, aldi due to the way they cut cost, etc.
with transport in all areas people want the cheapest, options.,

Ryan Air stinks of arrogance from top to bottom. As does the owner!
Probably the most hated Air line in history. Thing is its so completely unnecessary. There's no need for the BS on baggage trying to catch people out on a few lbs over on bag weight, or bags that don't quite fit in the cage on size.
So much so they now allow a small hand held bag in the cabin now, which makes a complete farce of the previous rules. Idiots, all they do is piss off their customers.
Unnecessarily loud announcements for scratch cards, just as people are nodding off. Constant pestering to buy duty free. Up and down with food cart. Oh, and bee the wee, wed ye leek te bee SOME SCRATCH CARDS.
"F*#¥ AAAARF WITH YA FE**IN SCRATCH CRADS" >:( >:( >:(
....but they are cheap :-[ ;D
-
They're only cheap because their pilots earn less than bin men... Summat to do with working for peanuts in order to build hours so that they might eventually work for a proper airline... Exploitation at its worst.
Did I mention that I'm not a fan... ::)
-
To be fair, I have to say, the last couple of flights haven't been too bad. Although this might coincide with the purchase of a pair of top end noise cancelling head phones. ::)
-
I would have credited you with more sense tbh ::) ;D
-
Like I said elsewhere, I just do what I'm told ;D

I wouldn't mind betting that flights are sold either at cost, or below cost, and these are ways to make the money. In most industries its called upselling.
TBH, anyone booking with Ryanair and expecting flexibility on bag sizes, in flight entertainment and so on need there head examined.
We know what to expect with them, you pay your money with that knowledge. If you comply with their terms, you get a cheap flight. If you deviate from their terms, you'll end up paying BA prices. They have a place in the industry :)
-
Perhaps they do, but aviation is probably not the industry for them...
Parcel relocation maybe :-\ if they became reliant on getting things from point a to point b in a timely fashion in order to get paid then they would really need to pull their socks up...
-
F#*%@g HATE Ryanair with a passion! Never again will I fly with them.
As said, the constant bombardment of trying to flog you their crap is beyond a joke!
Last time I flew with them I had been up since 4am for a 9am flight, which was the delayed for 5 hours. As soon as we took off they're at it... Scratch Cards, perfume, cigs, all manner of garbage that I could've bought in the 7 hours I'd already spent in the freekin airport!!!!! >:(
And as for that trumpet noise they play when they actually manage to land on time, well I know exactly what I'd like to do with that trumpet! >:(
