It seems my Octavia has one....and i've worked out its an indirect (as oppose to direct) system.
Its also got low profile tyres on it.....so imo harder to tell if they have lost air.
But the system seems to work :)
Thursday, on my way back from Oxford, the dash beeped and on popped an orange light that looks like horseshoe of a tyre with an exclamation mark in it. Pulled over in layby to check tyres, all looked ok to me.
I thought its a gremlin in the system and looked in the handbook on how to reset it. Job done.
But Thursday evening i thought i would check the pressures....one of the fronts was down to 20psi....whoopps! Blew it back up .... Friday morning after about 10mins it put the warning light on again....but apparently this is normal when you add air to the tyres and the system just needed resetting again :y
Might have a nail in it....carnt see one....i'll see if it goes down again :-\

Yup, about 8000 pulses per mile iirc :y

No wonder vag abs sensors are so sensitive then

Ignore the 8000 pluses bit, that's what comes out the other end of the abs ecu and drives the speedo ::)

I have tyre pressure monitors on all my Omega's. I check them once a week with a tyre pressure gauge ;D ;D :y

Yes, an indirect system (which i think mine has) monitors how many times the wheels go around for, obviously the flatter the tyre the more times it will rotate for a fixed distance.
Ignore the overnight bit....its just after blowing the tyre back up, I didnt drive it again until the next morning...but if i had of done, it will have probably popped the light back on again after 10mins or so...
A direct system has special valves(which mine hasnt) or a pressure sensor inside the wheel (dont think mine has) and communicates via bluetooth apparently (so mr google tells me) :y

10 seconds is enough to wreck a tyre. Albeit a more dramatic deflation in my case. I presume it gives a quicker warning the more air is released, or its a bit pointless otherwise surely?

I guess it depends on how much air loss there is and how far you have gone....me poodling about town for a few mins to pick customer up....idling for a few mins....then off on local town journey, i guess i had probably travelled a couple of miles at max 30 mph before it popped the light back on ....and this was an increase in pressure not a reduction.....it maybe a lot faster in popping the light on for deflation :-\
Of course, for the indirect system, you have to have travelled 'some' distance before it can work out there is a difference in tyre pressure :y

Mine's a tyre deflation monitoring set up too. It brought the message up when the tyre got down to about 30psi from the original 34psi
If you think about it, it has to be monitored over a fair distance because it doesn't know whether you're going around in circles or driving along a straight road

Eh?? Never heard of tyre pressure quoted as LBS? :-\ Its PSI or BAR in my world.......have you had you daily fix of custard today AA? :-\

Is yours a direct or indirect system?

Mine has valves on each tyre(colour specific)and if it loses more than a pound psi it shouts at you and the service light comes on and stays on until you rectify the darn thing.
Mainly a pain in the derrier,but I suppose quite useful, seems accurate too!
I won't mention the make cos I'll get no end of molestation and rude comments!!!!

Direct systems have a pressure/temp sensor per wheel to tell you a specific tyre is now only ??psi
Indirect systems that use the ABS reluctor rings and tell you to guess which wheel needs air ;D ;D

It's all this driving at 45 MPH. You need to slow down a little so the tyres can cool off. ::)

Perhaps you should try filling them with nitrogen custard, to see if that helps maintain equal pressure :)

Tyres - checked with 3 different gauges read :-
Front 32 Back 34.
Display read ( after a good run) Front 25 left 26 right, Back 29 left, 28 right.
So you see, it is your fault :D

The right hand tyres are obviously experiencing extra loads, creating higher tyre temps leading to higher pressures. Doubtless Cem will be along shortly to explain why :y

Doesn't explain why the display reads less than the actual psi.

And they only reset when driven above 20kmh for 10 mins so yours will never have reset. ;D ;D ;D

I've tried the reset, driven it on the motorway @ 60-70 for at least half an hour, and still it's giving false readings.
So there, clever clogs :D
