Title: Well, another 470ml of my lifeforce has been drained away.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 22 August 2014, 19:27:02
.......compensation came in the form of a 'comely big-titted wench' who, had she been wearing the appropriate clothing, could have come straight from a bawdy 18th century romp. :-* :-* :-* :-*

She looked looked a little like a younger version of Mrs Fox from Dads Army...... :D ;D

About 40 years younger. :y

You must be old enough to remember when donation was 'twice a year only'.

Maybe that's the real reason the EU are limiting the power of vacuum cleaners!  ::)  ;D

Three times a year now. But they are asking for four. :-\ :-\

Way too often in my view.

Just given my 101 donation (insert Cruella De Ville joke here). Was giving Platelets for a while but now back to just blood again. I'm currently taking part in the 'interval study' to establish if people can safely donate more frequently. there are three sample groups, 12 week, 10 week and 8 week intervals. Its a two year study. I'm on the 10 week interval and to be honest I feel no different at all (in fact, I feel no different directly after a donation than before anyway). Evidently there are already a few countries that use the 8 week interval. At the end of the day it will be totally the decision of the donor how often you go.

That is truly impressive, inspirational even. :y

Even giving three times a year results in my ferritin levels (stored iron) dropping well below normal levels. Personally, I think that 4 donations each year is a step too far. For me at least.

What we need is more donors,  not less donors giving more blood. :y

Wakeyomega ....I see you are from Wakefield. You could always take that ' scouse reprobate' STMO with you next time you give blood. ;)

Stmo can't donate... you're not allowed to if you've been stoking the chocolate furnace ;D

Live in Wakefield - but a yellow belly!

Me and SWMBO are also on the UK Biobank study, which is basically sharing the information about your health for the benefit of future generations. We have full medicals, in Manchester, every two years which include lifestyle questionnaires, fitness tests, reaction and memory testing etc etc. In fact the next one will include an MRI scan. Interesting stuff and hopefully will help my grandkids indirectly in due course.

Re STEMO, I notice you have let him back in (for now). I think I'll start a book on how long for  ;) - Good to see you around Steve.

Re the other donation, I believe that is what 10cc were named after.
