...more specifically. The Ryder cup.

Now I onow a lot of you don't like Golf or Golfists. ....or both. But, golf is not easy just playing for yourself. To play that game in front of an audience is harder. On tv harder still. ....but for your country or as a team event, where other team members are hanging on your performance as well, for the glory of Eurpoe/USA .....

Pressure. Some buckle. Some breath it in and thrive on it.  THAT is the real talent. If you're not impressed by highlights of the march of the europeans last year, then this is definitely not the weekend gor you. ;D

I would rather remove my scrotum with a rusty blade than play golf.

Golf makes cricket look exciting. :-\

Generally, an understandable opinion. But as with any sport, at the pinnacle of whatever game, there's always excitement. Last years RC was electric.

....and watching is very different to participating.

....given both of your alternatives, you'd be better watching the golf. Honest. ;D

If I'm going to pop something into a nice round hole I want it to be more exciting than a golf ball. ::) ::) ::) ::) :)

Golf, given that choice... watching paint dry implies have had to paint something in the first place :-\

Watching golf simply requires that you turn the telly on and fall asleep in a chair, which actually has some appeal ;D

As does Poulter , but they may not need to at this rate. Although Sunday "is another day" as they say.

Couldn't resist a small flutter on the yanks at 10/1. After all, we were in this very same position last time round.

I dont like playing golf because whenever I do I am thinking that I could be out doing a few miles in the pool/on the bike/running.  When I am too old to carry on with triathlons then I might take it up to keep me in (old) shape.  Until then.....

18 holes of golf is hard work. Especially in the Spanish sun, even with a golf buggy. Usually the first 9 is ok. The second sees a drastic tailing off towards the end.

.....and who wants to grind themselves into the ground mile after mile just pounding away on the pedals or whatever? Some people need a challenge while they....sedately exercise. ;)

Esp as a lot of Spanish clubs do not allow buggies on the fairways

Oh I see. The who can be most pedantic competition. You win. Well done. :y ;D

Although, electric trolies are allowed. If they aren't, you need to stop being so tight and pay a decent course fee. :P

Sorry, wasn't being pedantic, just trying to make out that the pros get less exercise than us mere mortals, who have to lug around a load of bats and a box of balls.  That, and the fact they don't zigzag across the fairway ;D

Some of the posher courses I've hacked around don't allow trolleys on the fairway, they have to leave on the paths (along with buggies).
