Is it just me or does it seem to be a slow day on here?Doesn't seem to have been many new posts is everyone out fixing their Omegas?
-
I am recovering from laying under the car and fitting a new backbox. I ache all over, and don't really feel like much more than browsing.
I am too old to go laying under cars !!!!! :(
-
Trust it didn't put up too much of a fight :y
-
It did fight a bit, mate ...but a 4lb club hammer put the argument in my court. Don't know if I said somewhere, but National Tyres wanted £180 for box. Got one from Allparts (High Wycombe) for £57. I have to say though, when under a car at my age banging and sawing..£180 sounds sweet ;D
But once done, £57 sounds sweeter.
Needed the car so had to fit a cheapy until I can get a pucker full set. Eternal, etc.
As the title of this post....its been a slow day...can't be arsed to move much..... :y
-
I know what you mean about age and laying under cars!Head says I'm still 19 rest of me knows better and lets me know it!!Glad you got car sorted in the end though.
-
You are smack on there Baza....like you say, I proudly profess 'I'll soon do that' .......get down under the car, scrape elbows, etc....then comes the part called 'extraction', where I have a good peer around from under the car, make sure no-one is visable to watch my antics. I then spend ten minutes wobbling, kicking legs, arms etc, reaching for anything external to grab to pull myself out. then its the art of getting up......nine times out of ten, I get cramp !!!!!!
Yes, I feel like 19.....after the job I feel 99. Yes, I have many slow days after doctoring the Omega ;D

Having a towbar helps with summat to haul on to extract yourself :-[
-
Yes Al....both mine have towbars, and yes, its a fantastic bit of kit to help with 'extraction' ;D ;D ;D
By the smiley...I think you are in the club, if you will excuse the expression ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
the first Monday in January after work in the dark with an inspection lamp I fitted a new starter to my voyager and by the time I was done and tidied and showered I sat in my chair and I couldn't of felt worse if id spent a round with Tyson ;D
-
Changed both front side light bulbs in the week and only just getting over the trauma of it all :-[ :(

Do you know....I am seriously thinking we 'seniors' should have a thread of our own. No-one under sixty can post. We can discuss things that these young whippersnappers can't comment on and ridicule us oldies.
What do you think ;D ;D ;D ;D

I will let you know after i've helped my lad take the engine from one Desmond, the gearbox from another and transplant them both into his estate after taking out the said lumps from that car! I'm not sure i'm going to make it, I think I should put the life insurance policy where swmbo can find it before I start! ;D
-
I'm over 60 (just) and I have no problems with fitting new parts to my vehicles because
1) neither of our vehicles are rusting old wrecks and
2) I let the nice man at the garage do all of that nasty, dirty mechanicing stuff.
:)

Would we want you in our select band of brothers....could be a poll on that, methinks ;D

Could we drop the age by 3 years, I am retiring soon anyway.......... ;) ;)
-
I do understand where you are coming from, matey, but by dropping the age limit falls squarely into the lap of that bloke from the Liverpool area. And his lap is the last place any sane person would wish to be ;D
This is why I thought an increase in age should be set. However, we could allow applications as 'honary' members. :y

Funny you should mention that as er-indoors called me last week to tell me my cruise control was not working as when she fit the set button it took off like a scolded cat.
Of course she was pressing the resume button and had totally lost the ability to operate cruise on all but her Barbie Bus.

This brings me great pleasure, knowing its not just me ;D ;D ;D ;D
Seriously...I did not realise there was a resume button. That explains why mine takes off like the clappers. I thought it was an electrical fault. :o
-
Barbie Bus, lol, is she aware of this nickname?

In the time it takes Sue/LJ to text her, she will be... ;D
Actually, knowing Mrdtm, it probably has a suitably labelled key ring... ::)
-
Seeing her at the weekend, so sure it will get dropped into conversation ;)

And a very apt name it is too.
You must be getting old then Mr DTM. Life is over when you have a mummy bus and Barbie bus... ;D

Terbs, Mrs DTM doesn't count, as she's a girl, and we all know women are useless with technological things. That's why irons and washing machines only have one control.
-
Oooh...Mrs Terbs got the hump over that one TB....went down like a lead balloon ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Not to mention the chances of ever being offered a biscuit arrangement by Mrs DTM ever again... ;D

I blew that years ago ;D. Still, I haven't had the door slammed in my face yet, which she told me she did to someone, so that's my next mission :D

At least I'd qualify for the "seniors"section if nothing else!

It probably won't happen, Baza....the main forum would lose a wealth of knowledge and experience. Where the world would revolve around proper talk and not constant abbreviations, etc.
No mention of ipods, ipads, ipids ipeds, 3g, 5g, (whatever that is), We talk of pensions, gardening, those were the days, Hillman Imps, Ford Populars, Ford Consuls, where we kept the horse.......you get the drift ;D
They would be lost without us. :y
-
