I had mine done and had to take it to someone with a vauxhall computer thingy.  Fortunately he is a mate and it only cost me a pint!

Doubtful, but doublecheck fuse #15 under steering wheel

little update......all checked over again, the stalk is the correct 4 wire one and my brake switch is the correct one too, infact identical to the one in the fitting guide. also checked fuse 15 and that was fine too so looks as though the cruise control unit itself could be at fault but i have no way of testing that so can't be sure really?
thanks for all help regarding this, much appreciated.
 cheers, rob.

are you any where near to a member with (a real) tech 2?

That will be able to diagnose further if you cant.

All lights working on your car?  brake, tail & Numberplate?

iirc these are monitored and can stop it working.
