more tracks, but not many more, mostly much better graphics and car feel. lots of smaller tweeks, you get to choose 1 of 5 gift cars when you level up now, and it goes to level 150 instead of 50. the kinetic thing where it follows your head for view isnt ment to be that great.
no porsches tho lol and no dynamic weather, but the car sound is ment to be tons better and the braking system.   thats about all i know.
500 cars on release, but a fair few already availible on dlc, and you can use real money to buy tokens and just buy the car you want instead of waiting to get the money on forza. seems a cheat tho.

Well, the gayStation (any variant) has a use as a dartboard. The Wii has Mario Kart. So they still have their uses ;D

Forza is, a faict, the best driving game by some distance. F1, GT5, project Gotham, all of the ps3 driving games, alley bush compared to Forza3.

Forza4 looks awesome looking at some of the related videos. Didn't think kinect would help with this game. But it looks incredibly accurate.

I thought GT5 was supposed to have the most accurate car handling - you can tell the difference between front and mid engines.

TBH I prefer straight out silly racers my favourite is Motorstorm Pacific Rift

with Forza you can tell a couple of psi difference in tyre pressure. That level of detail can also work against you though. Set up is important, as it is in real life. It's aimed at car lovers, of all sorts. Motor storm is way too compromised by not being specific to a particular vehicle. It's fun, but in the same way wii is fun. Ie not at all realistic I suppose.

Forza is a simulator. Among other things. Live telemetry on screen, can help you sort a handling problem while you race real time. Camber, toe, castor, bump, rebound, dif ratios, etc etc. All makes a difference and will improve lap times, or make it worse.

Set up is one thing, sight and sound, are most realistic of any I've seen, induction, exhaust, transmission, wind noise are all there, egging you on. Not like the sound affects knocked up on an Amstrad sythersizer you get on phony games... Although some are ok in an artificial/cartoon type noise. Forza is as real as it gets, without being there or hoping into an F1 teams simulator.

Elevation changes on nordschliefe  are class leading, afaict. But still need improvement going by some on board videos I've seen. Going down hill on some sections, the cars noise reflects back off the hill side on some models.

I don't bother with career mode, too impatient. A1 car, set up, off to the ring. Av it!

Despite the fact I hardly turn the consoles on anymore and only played Forza 3 for five minutes, I find myself looking at Forza 4..

I didn't realise you can't get the Microsoft steering wheel anymore, though.. anyone know what a decent alternative is? I don't really want to spend £400 for a Fanatec Porsche wheel ;D

Been a few huge GT5 downloads

Over 1000 cars but 25 Imprezas so not that many

Competition is good for racing games

Less likely to overheat and also a lot less likely to RROD.

BTW next version will be RROD proof by removing the red LEDs ::) ::)

A year, maybe more...

The pros are its much quieter, and built in Wifi.

If yours doesn't have built in wifi (or uses a plug in wifi adpater), that its a fat boy.

No point upgrading.

Yes if you have either HD console the slim versions are less power hungry, and more reliable.

If you have the SD console the newer versions are stripping out Gamecube compatability

All 360s are functionally identical  :-\

Actually both YLOD and RROD are caused by GPUs breaking away from the motherboards, the run to narrower tracks and less power mean they are running cooler.

RROD is basically a bad overheat and cracking solder. The cooling on the older boxes is not great.

YLOD is a lot less common but does happen. Again the GPU is trying to escape, cooling is better on the PS3 but it still goes pop, not as much however.

BOTH slims though seem to be immune to their respective GPU failure.

And so are Phat and Slim PS3s

Doesn't stop the chip manufacturers using a narrower track design and then redesigns for smaller console, less power usage and more reliability.

This is an XBOX thread, nobody gives a shit about crappy gayStations. XBOX slim is too new to know how prone it is to general failures.  Heat is not the only thing at work here, although that was, along with heatsink design, the primary problem for the fats.

The later 2 generations of fats were much lower power, but still suffered.

It has ended up being a racing sim thread, and stop calling stuff crappy!

Have I slagged off any console? No so stop slagging stuff off.

Both of the slims from the two manufacturers are a full redesign and both are more reliable.

There have been X360 failures from not long after launch, but I have not yet heard of a slim failing in the same way.

But I can't get on with modern driving sims and a joypad, I don't seem to have the fine motor control necessary anymore so I just end up swerving all over the place like a drunk driver after 12 pints.. which somewhat ruins the enjoyment of the thing!

The Logitech G25 would be nice, but that's PS3 only.. the MS wheel is no longer made, and sod paying £400 for a Fanatec, so it's Madkatz (not known for their quality) or a cheaper Logitech wheel for the 360..

Nah, not being a fanboy any more, my eyes are open to the way Fony treat their customers. Its quite amusing to see the fanboys try to stick up for Fony, and the lies that Fony constantly come out with. Still, gayStation fanboys will defend it to the hilt, usually conceding that its a Bluray player as well (even if overpriced, noisy, unreliable, mediocre one) ;D

The telly - circa 2003 - still in dining room to cover hole in carpet  :-[
The mini hifi - circa 2002 - met with sammy, and lost
Hifi - circa late 80s - going strong, mate has it now
alam clock - late 90s - sammy
Cybershot - circa 2004 - sammy (still in warranty, but i didn't want it repaired/replaced)
Several hand-me-down VAIOs - sammy, latterly Percy.
handfuls of cd writers - all binned after about a year - thats their life
DVD player - 2001 ish? - sammy
Portable cd player (discman?) - 2000ish? - sammy

The consumer stuff is universally shite. All of it. Even the most die hard fanboy would have to concede that Tesco Tecknika stuff is better and more reliable ;D

Ex-Fanboy ;)

Oh yeah, madcatz... Shan't be going there again, got an xbox controller from them, couldn't work out why I couldn't get bikes to go straight in motogp games. Turns out the mk controller had a delay. Didn't matter how quick your reactions, movements where always 0.5secs behind. Terrable.
Few years ago now though...

Yeah I don't rate them either Chris - and I lied, it's not Logitech but some other Logi-something make wheel.. seems nobody makes a decent quality wheel for the 360 outside of Fanatec  ???

Seen it, looks rubbish compared to B3.

Call in an Air Strike in MW2? You are the airstrike in B3. Been a fan of COD for years, got the latest Black Ops. Very disappointed, no new ideas maps too small.

Watch the full trailier Daz, will make you change your mind  :y

You also then get Thunder Run, where you drive tanks:

Then get planes too:

Look at the size of the maps!! Makes COD look like a college project!

It does look good Tunnie will go and get it when it comes out, never played Battlefield  ???

Black Ops was a total let down... now MW2 still is a brilliant online game so hopefully MW3 will be as good hopefully better :y

I played a bit of the original battlefield, never really got into second one. But loads of people raved about, think COD series is a bit stuck now. Its just same old same old, I loved COD 5 WAW, based in WW2. Huge maps, tanks ect. First MW was good too, big maps, really well done. Everything ever since just feels like few odd features bolted on.

MW3 looks much same :(

I suspect the appeal of MW2 is its online gameplay, where it is a different beast to non seXBOX Live gameplay
