So.....a coworker owns laguna that is wannabe car and has a problem.....yep, the f......n keycard. He came to me and said Hey, you 're more like some Macgyver, eemmm would you take a look at it? And I did, though I hate renaults. Why can't they build a normal vehicle (they will never make a car!) ? Always something "special".... I had to cut keycard in the middle - it is glued originally (http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g480/danzigfan1/IMAG0762.jpg) Entire blade in it (http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g480/danzigfan1/IMAG0763.jpg) Split apart (http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g480/danzigfan1/IMAG0764.jpg)
-
This is the biggest part of keycard and was torn off (http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g480/danzigfan1/IMAG0765.jpg) Magnified (http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g480/danzigfan1/IMAG0766.jpg) And soldering it back (http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g480/danzigfan1/IMAG0767.jpg) The magic light in turning on and off if switch is pressed so I hope it"ll work, coworker will arriwe at 05 pm and we"ll try it. I hate renaults >:(
-
good work.. :y
one friend bought the same key (was lost) and 100 £ here (service price) ???
-
Just had two renault keycards rebuilt for a tenner each, good as new!
Your right though, I refuse to worm on french cars >:(

Good price, it costs 170 euros only for the key, plus programming.....250 together maybe? Making fun of people >:(

My first car was a pug 405 which spent more time in bits than working. The HG went where it had literally disintegrated along a 2mm channel between cyl and oil channel. Then once that was fixed (this was my first foray in to mechanics) the camshaft decided to snap in half shattering two of the camshells in process. There was a small air bubble in the camshaft where the bloody thing broke. I took a gamble and bought a secondhand one with shells, I know these are machined with the head so it was 50/50 as to whether it would work. It worked and it lasted another year before I left it for scrap. French cars never again.
-
I truely dispise french cars!! The only good one (and I use term loosely) was the 205 GTi!

I had a pugi 306 eight years ago, only the keys were left original after a year of driving (servicing) it. Rubish - total, never again

My first sporty car! :y Great fun to drive. Had it tuned to 150bhp ( It was the 1.9). I sold it years ago, then saw it two years ago, it hadn't been totally 'chavved up' and sounded like a bag of hammers :'( :'( I suppose lasting this long was an achievement, it was 'F' registered.

Lets be accurate here, they're not 'keyless', it's just an electronic key rather than a mechanical one. And as NO manufacturer, including Mercedes or Saab, has come up with a reliable electronic key yet, what chance did Renault have? That's Renault who have been renowned for their high quality electrical and electronic systems since, er, well I'll let you know when it happens!

Had a 106 for a year. Not a bad car once I'd replaced the suspension, clutch, exhaust..... ::)
Managed to survive 40k in the year I owned it. Was actually quite fun to drive... Still miss it a bit... :-[
Back in a sec...
-
That's better. ;)
Just blasted the beast round the block. Normal service resumed. :y
-
I think you must all be exceedingly hard drivers, I had a Renault 16TL for 13 years, 150,000 miles, never let me down once, service items only, and before the Omega, the most comfortable car I ever drove. :y :y :y 8)
-
Possibly one of the best cars I have had was a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 7 seater thing, diesel, great mpg, but yes a family mans car, had it three and a half years and needed a bulb, would have another tomorrow but have bought a Jeep..... :y :y

Sexy car!!! ;D ::) :-X

My first car was R18TLJ from 1983, share better memories with it than with first girl (total psycho) but was constantly at the workshop - wheel bearings, drive shafts, brakes.......I kind a liked the engine, 1.4 , 65 hp, using liter of oil on 2000 miles but sweet runner. Never a problem with the engine and had 425.000 km when going to car heaven, still running good. That's only good point or it, had a few of renaults after it but was too disappointed
-
I really dont like Lagunas, but I very much doubt that Renault make the pass. Lets face it, the GM remotes are every bit as shite.
-
I had a Laguna Mk. 1 which I found a decent, solid car. Totally bland and uninspiring but did the job it was designed for with few problems. The later Laguna, however, and anything Renault are making today is a total crock, IMHO. Mostly made out of tupperware and full of pointless gadgets that are bound not to work, given the French approach to anything electrical.
I wouldn't touch a ShCitroen with a barge pole. My mate had a brand new Saxo and they couldn't even make the fuel gauge work! My colleague's wife had one where the fuse box melted. Come on, guys, it's I2R - not exactly rocket science. With them being so unreliable you would have thought parts would be readily available but both are frequently off the road for 2 weeks at a time waiting for fairly run-of--the-mill parts to arrive.
As for Peugeot, other than the pure lunacy of the 205GTI I don't think they've ever made a car that I've taken a second glance at. Pure pipe and slippers.
-
I had heard from a source that the French 'know how to make a good diesel engine'
If thats the case, It's a shame they can't apply their expertise to the rest of the vehicle!
-
My first car was a Renault 5 GTL 1.3 that cost £150 and half a load of hay!! :D
I loved it and totally thrashed it as only teenagers can!! ;D Going round roundabouts as fast as I could, tipped over at 45 degrees was always good for a laugh ;D ;D ;D
For all that it was very forgiving and kept on going until the rust killed it!! :'( By then tho it was more filler, ice cream boxes and baler twine than quality French steel!!! ::) :( :)

-
The 107, along with its Toyota Aygo and Citroen C1 cousins, is one of the best-looking small cars around

What ?????, who reviewed it ??, best looking what ????
This reviewer is obviously a kid who has never seen sex on wheels, such as the E type, Ferrari 308GTB or an Aston Martin. I suppose he could say its the best looking cause the rest are ugly. I saw another skoda superb today, its just not well proportioned, the shape is ugly, almost as if they took a boot from one car, a bonnet from another and filled in the middle.Ugh...
Most Vauxhall's look good, the Omega shape is well proportioned and still looks good beside a lot of new cars.
My son in law had a megane T reg, and renault still do the old trick of putting the brake pipe inside a rubber pipe in such a position that it collects water and hence rust through. I thought most car designers knew about that one :-X
