I havent tried yet but I was told bodyshops use a heat gun to bring the oil back out of the plastic which restores the colour. Needs gentle heating rather than a quick blast and make sure to protect the paint.

Interesting; might give that a go.

Although I'm fairly convinced I'm going to have to run down and respray mine.  There are quite a few cracks and splits as well as tiny craters about the size of pin heads where it looks like the paint is crazing. I thought it would probably need a smear of filler before sanding down but I'm concerned that normal body filler won't cope with the flexibility of the surface and will just crack.

Has anyone got any experience of successfully respraying bumpers?

Peanut butter.   :)

Lasts as long as anything expensive from a can or bottle - not very long.  WD40 stinks less.  As others have said, gentle heat first and it lasts much longer.

Black shoe polish ;) The stuff that comes in a bottle with built in sponge applicator :y

Used it (2 coats) on my MFL and they were perfect for 2 years :y make sure you use a cloth to get the excess off though ::)

This works well, as does baby oil........which can also be applied to the pert breasts and curvy rump of your beloved wife/girlfriend. ;)
