Omega General Help / Underbody 'clunk'
« on: 23 May 2007, 08:17:05 »
Hi guys
Minor problem (I hope)
I've recently had new shockers fitted on the front, plus a new track rod end on the o/s/f
I seem to be getting a slight clunk when I go over road humps that I can 'feel' through the drivers floor pan.
When I was watching the fitter put the tie rod arm on he pointed out a rubber bush that was 'coming away from the metal bit' on the front suspension lower arm, he said it might need attention in about 6months.

Is this the cause? is this something I can do myself? or is it cheap enough to get fixed?

Appreciate any comments

Hi & thanks for the reply!

Will that cause the engine management system light to go on, cause mis-firing or is my local garage telling porkies?

I've had a reasonable amount of work done on my old '98 since I bought it, normal wear and tear items, but one still raises its ugly head (or should I say whine?) when I start up, it would be nice to sort it out for once and for all.
The air recirculation unit? if that's it correct name, goes off like a banshee when the car is cold and turns off like a dyson after a while, must admit its starting to grate...............I know it does no harm and some Omegas do and some don't, I would prefer mine to be the latter  :)

Ok, no kids inheritance to blow and I'm handy with PC's

Is this something I can do or can I just turn the thing off?

BTW if anyone else is here from my neck of the woods, I just saved £33 per side for new shockers supplied and fitted at ABLEFIT Longwell Green you can Google them for contact details, very fast and friendly service.
