Old Chesnut
« on: 10 May 2007, 12:59:32 »

I've had a reasonable amount of work done on my old '98 since I bought it, normal wear and tear items, but one still raises its ugly head (or should I say whine?) when I start up, it would be nice to sort it out for once and for all.
The air recirculation unit? if that's it correct name, goes off like a banshee when the car is cold and turns off like a dyson after a while, must admit its starting to grate...............I know it does no harm and some Omegas do and some don't, I would prefer mine to be the latter  :)

Ok, no kids inheritance to blow and I'm handy with PC's

Is this something I can do or can I just turn the thing off?

BTW if anyone else is here from my neck of the woods, I just saved £33 per side for new shockers supplied and fitted at ABLEFIT Longwell Green you can Google them for contact details, very fast and friendly service.

Unplug the pump - behind bumper, just in front of passenger wheel, above horns.

Hi & thanks for the reply!

Will that cause the engine management system light to go on, cause mis-firing or is my local garage telling porkies?

Those secondary air pumps are £340 to replace, but they're so useful Vx dropped them on the 2.6.
