Code is P1870 torque converter clutch stuck off
and P1871 not present DTC,

Other symptom is thumping into gears, always when free wheeling and slowing down, never thumps when accelerating and changing up, spanner light has never come on when the thumping has happened, only accelerating  puts the light on.

Thanks.

Hi, long story short, cam sensor error code, and torque converter clutch stuck off error code  >:(, told to change cam sensor as this may be throwing up gear box code, fitted new genuine cam sensor, no joy still getting torque converter error code  :(, and car going into limp mode   >:(, car is scrap value against another car part x at car sales places, so do I get hold of a auto box and fit, take the scrap value and trade it in, or bite the bullet altogether and scrap the car altogether  >:(, I think there is more to just changing the auto box as in, the ecu will not recognise the different box, any help and advice what to do here would be great :y

I had very similar symptoms, changed the cam sensor, and maf sensor, all is well, have to say, only had cam sensor on me fault reader, but picked up a maf sensor for under a tenner, yes under a tenner ;) and put it on, as changing the cam sensor I still had a lumpy tick over on a morning, get it checked though on a reader though, and make sure. OH by the way, noticed oil on the old cam sensor, so changed the cam cover gasket as well just to make sure. Good luck with it. :y

Omega General Help / Burning smell
« on: 24 June 2011, 10:25:11 »
Lately while driving, when the engine is up-to normal temp, if I have to stop at lights or moving in traffic very slow, there is a burning smell in the cabin :-[ (no windows open), but this is a different smell from say burning oil on exhaust, I had a manual gearbox clutch burn out one day and its like that but not as strong, I have trouble with the auto box as well,(harsh gear changes now and then) is the smell linked to the auto problems? Thanks everyone for looking.  Mel

Omega General Help / Re: is this a heat problem?

Omega General Help / is this a heat problem?
« on: 12 May 2011, 20:41:58 »
Hi everyone, when in slow moving traffic or say busy towns, the temp gauge will creep up past 90+, I am not sure if this is  having an affect on the auto box, like sometimes thumping into gear, but on open roads the temp is back down to around 80, and so the box seems to settle down again, changing up is smooth again, but as soon as that temp increases the gear change sometimes thumps into gear, any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you, Mel.
