it's a 2003 2.6 with Tartarini system

Plugs were changed 4,000 miles ago, but the problem existed before then.

Will PM James now, thanks

Any ideas, peeps?

On petrol, it moves like the proverbial off a shovel.

But on LPG, it doesn’t accelerate and judders at 70mph+, then loses power, then speed reduces to to 40mph, then engine cuts out.
I have to switch it off and wait a few minutes before re-starting.
A few miles later it misfires, loses power and cuts out again.

How much does an LPG technician/mechanic/engineer/magician bloke cost?

He can't be worse than my previous guy - went to all the effort of stripping off the cam covers to seal them, then re-resealed with sealant, not a proper gasket!!!

Tunnie

Brentford is fine.

It's an as-and-when thing really - regular servicing plus occasional repairs.
Determined to take it to 200k, so need someone who is both local and also understands 2.6s

Best pm me your tel no, etc

Thanks

Folks, looking for a regular honest guy to take my hi-mileage 2.6 LPG to from time-to-time.

On 142k now. Hope to hit 200k.

Any suggestions?

I wonder, is total de-badging illegal?
The automotive equivalent of a Brazilian?

Hmm...maybe I should buy a Ferrari and put Fiat badges on it.

Or a Bentley and put VW badges on it

 ;D ;D ;D

All fixed.

New airflow meter, new plugs and new leads.

Moves like the proverbial off a shovel (on petrol or LPG)

Fin.

Dave, it can't be my back box, mine's brand new now.

Here's an eternal question: is it worth paying a Vauxhall main dealer to investigate and/or then fix a ten-year old car?

And if not, does anyone know an independant specialist near Heathrow?

If you have managed to hook the remainder of the wadding out of the exhaust but your still having problems with how its running,I think you may have more than one problem. :-\

Forgot to mention, the rough running is on both petrol and LPG both.

New exhaust only runs the engine smoothly when at cold temperature.

When it warms up, eg on motorway, it doesn’t accelerate and judders at 50mph+.
It vibrates and runs roughly, as if on 3 or 4 cylinders. (A V6 shouldn't run so rough.)
Then it loses power. I have to switch it off and wait 10 mins before re-starting

Think it could be a faulty crank sensor?
How many hours labour is that?
And what's involved?

New complete exgaust from Germany £95
Fitting from local geeza £70

Car flies along on petrol or LPG now

Strangely not as rorty as my old2.5 V6, but smooth and creamy.

Yay, feel like driving the length and breadth of the UK now!

 :D :D :D

OK folks, I bought the German one on shebay.

Awaiting delivery, then get it fitted.

Car stalls pretty much every stop light so the sooner it arrives the better.

Will report back...

If the fibreglass had come out, how come the car isn't any noisier?

ebay are doing a german system for £100 (search 'omega 2.6 exhaust') but I'd have to pay £50 for fitting somewhere.
A well-known retailer whose names rhymes with Slick Brit want £140 just for the back box, albeit fitted.
