Omega General Help / re chipping
« on: 14 April 2012, 15:01:36 »
How easy is it to re chip the 2.5td.  i have changed the auto gearbox to an AR35 and want to see if I can get better performance from the box.  I have seen race chips advertised on the internet and wondered if any one has a cheap solution to get better performance.   :D

I have changed the gearbox on the omega to an AR35 and it appears sluggish from start.  As soon as it has been running for about 500yds it gets a bit more ooomph.  I changed the maf sensor and it is still the same.  It will engage the S mode from cold start and appears to go through the gears ok.  I have noticed it seems to be heavy on the juice around town.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Coolant level being displayed, when the level is ok.  I am assuming its the sensor.

Brilliant and thanks for the quick reply, just been out in the cold and it worked.  Tried every button previously except both together :D

I have no owners manual with the car and don't know how to reprogramme the perfect driving position on the seats.  The owner before clearly had some strange driving habits judging by the settings.  Any help would be appreciated. tnyq

Good news, changing 4th gear did not create a problem and the thrust bearing is working.  It appears some of the bits are interchangeable.http://images.omegaowners.com/forum/smf2000/Smileys/oofstd/thumbsup.gif
She is back on the road and running well.  keep your fingers crossed.

Yes, it was really helpful, I followed the guide, but had to take the spares out of the old box.  I am worried there might be damage in the replacement. The thrust bearing missing meant there was a groove in the transmission gear.  not having much luck at the moment.  Went to swindon today to fetch the replacement box.  http://images.omegaowners.com/forum/smf2000/Smileys/oofstd/cry.gif

I am having problems with my gear box.  I have a 2.5 TD and the box went.  Reading the posts members suggested replacing the box with an AR35 rather than the more suspect AR25.  However I can't get hold of a decent box.  I have purchased breakers box and found the thrust bearing had disintegrated and scored the top gear badly.

I would also be grateful if anybody knows where I can get hold of the gear box seals as a kit.

Thanks Tny

Omega General Help / still on the gearbox!!!!
« on: 03 December 2011, 18:41:43 »
Got hold of a second hand AR35 and changed the bell housing.  As I did,  I noticed the replacement box had no thrust bearing ring just grooves where it used to be.  I have put the thrust bearing and first section of the transmission gear from my old box into the replacement box.  The question - is the transmission gear the same in the AR25 ast the AR35.  they appeared to be identical.  Any gearbox specialists out there?

Thanks, as a new member I am trying to get round the site, is there somewhere on the site that i could seek a second hand box.  All of the posts for spares relate to 2009

Can anybody help, Does it matter if a second hand box has the markings DP or BE, Will an AR35 box fit a 2.5Diesel regardless
