When I bought my latest elite it had a sony head unit in it so I junked it and bought the ccr600/cdc2 set up from a guy who was breaking his elite. I can stop the peasants walking with the noise here in Sheff.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Air bag light
« on: 14 August 2007, 21:12:54 »
Hi Guys my best mate - who's just passed away with cancer - was an MOT tester  actually right upto 2 weeks before he died, SRS light is not an MOT failure NOR do you have to keep your airbags you can put a wood steering wheel or anything on with no probs - how do you think they'd get round a front baby seat when you turn off that airbag? BUT ABS light is on the test bulb must light up and then go out exactly as the individual maker set it up - if you look on the wall in your test station it actually has bulb time IN SECONDS on a chart. The powers that be love us don't they. As a little side point I've been looking through my '97 autodata book and many cars actually list a higher CO content than there allowed on test - how the hell does VOSA get away with that? Anything else is a case of "if fitted it must work" but remember the tester is not allowed to take things apart - for instance if you don't have a spare wheel or it's illegal take it out and fill your boot with tool box's they don't take em out or chuck the spare and carry a can of tyre inflater - it's perfectly legal and MOT proof PLUS it makes  a good place to hide your porn - who's missus ever looks in the spare wheel well. ;)

Omega General Help / Oil cooler
« on: 01 April 2008, 19:49:14 »
Hi guys how often does the oil cooler cause problems I seem to have an oil leak which smells worst going up hill heads seem OK today as I took off all the inlet but I seem to have some oil (not huge) around the oil cooler. Plus does it sit in coolant or air as haynes say you must put a beed of sealant around it before whacking back on. I suppose it could still be the heads but it don't look like it and she passed the MOT yesterday. Help please (as normal)

Omega General Help / Re: Removing air intakes
« on: 17 March 2008, 21:02:19 »
I've got a K+N instead of the actual airbox which does make it breath a bit better or so they say but a guy at our local tuners has told me to put the cold air pipe from the K+N in front of the airbox and drill the front lower part whilst fitting a panel filter as this works better. I asked about removing the lot in case this helped more but as I said earlier with all the negatives from those who have tried mine are staying on. I'm only trying to boost the mpg by a couple as I work mobile and have to name a price based on miles to get to a client and I don't want another car I want mine and if not I'n gonna kwy and kwy! Seriously used it today with sport on and TC off I don't need to go any faster BUT I do think that we should all be a special case and get cheaper fuel.

Omega General Help / HBV?
« on: 08 July 2007, 19:33:24 »
Hi guys thanks for the advice regarding the heater matrix but I've been reading about this hbv thingymebob my cossie had aircon not climate, so I'm open to advice. 2 coolant pipes that go into bulkhead cut off, there is a small vac pipe with them but still attached. Coolant stain is on drivers side carpet - not huge but there will that be the matrix or the whatever the hell it is and if it is the valve how on earth do I get it out as I've had my head stuck up my bum trying to wriggle 18 stone into top right corner of engine bay and I canna see any nuts or bolts captain! (that bit should be in a scotish accent) sorry it's been a long day in the rain changing V6 plugs, that passenger bank is a right so n so.
Cheers
Paul :'(

Omega General Help / heater matrix
« on: 07 July 2007, 20:39:20 »
:'( Does anybody out there know how to get the heater matrix out of an elite without taking out all the bloody dash + how much are they. I'm 2 days into ownership after dumping my cossie started servicing it and whooppee go to the right bank of plugs and notice some little so and so has by passed the heater matrix. On stuffing my head up the right side of the dash I notice an old coolant stain on the carpet - now I know why they sold it don't I - I did 300,000 miles in my senator and she never missed a beat, 2 days in and I've got my first big job on this one.
