what sort of job is it to change the solenoid on the steering box or the box itself as it looks tight in there , also is there no way of shorting out the system to give light steering permanently

mv6 2.6 2001 51 plate saloon silver and very annoying lol
You sure the relay position is behind N/s kickpanel. late models (and some `01 models) had the relay behind the actual fuse carrier under steering wheel side by side with rear acc socket relay and timer delay relay.
well I will look tomorrow but the wiring loom and plug are on n/s as I found when I stripped it down just no relay in the socket so ive put my relay in and it fits it only goes in one way aswell due to diff size pins so I will double check tomorra on the other side

Omega General Help / servotronic problem
« on: 29 June 2013, 19:11:54 »
here we are again ive had the mig on a diagnostic (not tech 2) and it said speed output sensor not working so changed that still no joy with the steering so next I bought a servotronic relay and spent a while to get to the location n/s kick panel area and what do I find no relay in the socket so I fit my relay and guess what still no joy with the steering should I change the pump next before even thinking about driving it off a cliff into a quarry

cheers matey i will try that tomorra on way to work it just seems funny that it only changes when its been switched off so maybe it is a relay which isnt always doing its job when turning ign on . thanks for the info guys it gives me some things to work on as part of my diagnostic path lol

« on: 04 November 2012, 13:58:45 »
my steering is sometimes heavy ive checked tyres and power steering fluid now before we all say pump and steering could it be a speed sensor fault as i believe the steering had speed sensitive sensor as sometimes its as light as a feather and others its heavy but it only does it after its been turned off and come back and re start then its changed it never changes during driving
all help would be a help before i start spending coin on steering parts
cheers peeps
