Have a look at your engine fuseable links first and battery connections. Do your lights, heater etc work etc? It could be a faulty ignition switch or immobilser problem if the fuses are ok.
Yeah thanks for that, they work fine at the moment. Just the cam cover gaskets to do next then! I know I need genuine vauxhall gaskets so I'll get them ordered. Once again thanks for your help earlier really am very greatful
I seam to have a problem with my brake lights. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Is there a relay or switch I should check? If so where would these be located? Thanks
I was syringing some oil out if my spark plug wells earlier (have a weeping rocker cover gasket) started engine and noticed a swarking screeching sound from above the alternator. It sounds like some worn bearings to me. Would it be the aux belt tensioner making that noise? Cheers.
Yes, its a faulty brake switch. I have changed mine and they now work fine. (thanks to one of the members off here). It is located behind the brake pedal. You have to take the card board cover and the heater vent by the pedals to access it. Bit awkward to get at!! If you have cruise control it will be a 4 pin switch.
If you have a head gasket failure you will have oil in the water (expansion tank) which will look like mayonaise and water in the oil again the same. You will also notice a loss in water. There could be a split pipe in your case and as you have no heat the matrix would be a good place to start. It could be a simple air lock (there is a bleed screw on the radiator under the passenger side bumper) Or a blockage somewhere.
Cheers for the replies. The brake fluid, coolant and plugs were done at the 65K service so I wouldn't of thought they would need doing yet? Good point about the brakes I'll give them a clean and check the pads and check suspension etc. Hope nothing goes worng like it normally does when I attempt things like this! Quite agree with the forth bridge theory!!
