Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Blaupunkt CAR 300 radio reception
« on: 21 February 2011, 20:03:38 »

Early GLS with a CAR 300 radio / cassette player has started "loosing" radio signal.

Previously it held a radio station fine and but there was lots of static/background noise when the heated rear window was switched on.

Over the past 2 weeks it won't play any Radio 4 or 2 and when searching won't find any station, no matter where I am on the A 303 or M3. (Although this morning it did find some Spire FM, but not very clearly).

The cassette player works fine, so am able to listen to the Ipod, but not sure of why the radio signal is going.

Any suggestions for correction / resolution gratefully received.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: horn
« on: 25 January 2011, 14:33:38 »
so having done the bench test I've proven the horn works so therefore must be wiring.

tried to get just the horn part of the loom and vauxhall garage says only comes as part of the engine loom (for the 2.5 td).

is that what others were told, or did you manage to get just the horn part?

if the latter, do you have a prt number?

cheers for help

sorry to ask a question on an open thread, but i have a problem with my horn not working and the fuse is intact.

when pressing the horn, it sounds like a relay is "clicking".

is there a relay in the cicuit as well?

will need to check out "chafing", but just trying to gather all possible areas to check, rather than doing it piecemeal.

cheers for help.

Omega General Help / TD Clutch price
« on: 28 December 2010, 19:05:49 »
Having chipped my 2.5td manual estate the clutch has started slipping with in gear accleration (well it does have 145k on the clock).

as the main dealer wants £650+ to change, what sort of price should i expect to pay to get it changed?

are any of these "specialist" companies worth a try?

all info gratefully received.

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5TD Rear Silencer Box
« on: 29 October 2010, 15:00:38 »

thanks for reply.

am doing chip route as well.

reason for asking was weight improvement and the fact that any car silencer is also a baffle trap with air being restricted in its passage thru. Usually the freeflowing the exhaust the better the engine performs, accepting that it may be a minimal gain.

Has anyone replaced this to save weight/add performance?

If so where did you get the staright thru pipe work to replace it?

and what sort of funding would be required for them to travel to zumerzet?

(assuming, of course, you wish to part company with them)
