Omega General Help / Re: oil cooler V6 X30XE omega 2000
« on: 15 September 2008, 15:43:02 »
thanks for your help. hopefully it will be back on the road on Friday. Am I right in thinking that I need the plenum O rings and the inlet manifold seals (orange funny looking things) as well to do this properly. has anyone got the Vx parts numbers for those and the rocker box gaskets please?

Cheers,
Myk

Hi, would someone who knows be so kind as to list all the parts I will need to change the oil cooler please. I have ordered the cooler, but need to know which gaskets/o-rings/seals I need for the inlet manifold and rocker boxes (as they leak). I have to get all the parts for Wednesday, so any help will be much appreciated!!!! I have oil in the water, and no water in the oil (which suggests it's the cooler, as it burst a water pipe with emulsified gunk..... I will be changing oil filter, oil, rad flushing the pipes, new antifreeze etc..

Many thanks,
Myk

Hooligans method.

if you have the space...and seeming as its a manual.... hold the brakes just enough to stop it edging forward with your right toes, get the revs at about 4000 rpm, with your right foot heel, and put it in first and let the clutch up..... you should get tyre smoke from both rear arches if you have an lsd. You may also get disapproving looks from neighbours and local plod.....

Alternatively, if you have one of those boring front wheel drive cars.... citroen saxo, etc... then just leave the handbrake on!

electric windows.... just hold the button down until the window hits the bottom, then do it the other way to the top. you may have to repeat this once more, then it will remember. repeat for all 4 windows.

you can reset it by rotating the knob to the tilt postition, and then pushing it upwards. do the same for the slide-back as well. new battery makes it forget the end limits. probably have to do the same for the windows.

I have a misfire on my 3.0 v6. The paperclip says 19 (so crank sensor), but it did have oil on plugs 1 & 3 and on the HT leads (now removed, replaced and thoroughly cleaned). Breathers are clear. Would the crank sensor cause the misfire, and allow the engine to still run ( I only ask because the last crank sensor stopped it running completely), or is it more likely a knackered DIS pack? Can the ECU detect a DIS pack fault? It does feel like 2 plugs out......

I may have been wrong with the 31. changing the sensor cured the problem, as it ran properly....before it wouldn't start at all.

ok, many thanks for all your help. I will get another one ordered now. The one on it is a genuine vx unit. It was replaced last time because there was no spark/injection on LPG or petrol, but that was code 31 (I think)

I only changed it 10000 miles ago....and I rerouted the cable away from the exhaust.

forgot to add... no water leaks, and the breathers are clear (first thing I did when I got it). petrol and LPG filters done 5000 miles ago

Hi, I have just paperclipped it. It came up with 19. I changed the bits, due to the leads being crap copies which fell apart on the last plug change(champion I think), the plugs needed doing (as the LPG seems to eat plugs every 6000 miles). I have moved the coil pack. I custom made brackets for it. It sits near the water expansion bottle. I have checked the low tension side with a multilmeter. It has got an oil leak on 1&3 from the rocker box gasket. I have removed the excess oil, used carb cleaner on the insides of the leads, changed the spark plugs on 1 and 3. The problem is the same on petrol and lpg (slightly worse on LPG, but not much).

Cheers,
Myk

I have a 3.0 v6 estate which has recently had a new coil pack, genuine gm leads and bosch 4 prong spark plugs. It ran fine until 2 days ago. It now sounds like it's missing on 2 spark plugs, and drives like a pig! It is just about bearable on very very light throttle (cruising on a level road). If I boot it (which is rare, as it  feels horrible), it accelerates up to 3500- 4500 rpm, and holds there for about 5 seconds, and then lets it go all the way to the redline. Any guesses???
Thanks,
Myk

Hi, as the title says, my elite estate nearside headlight is dim. They are the xenon units. Do I need another one, or is it just a bulb or earth problem?

Thanks,
Myk
