dont know whether this helps
but i have a ford scorpio as well as the omega and what you have described is called cattle grid effect on the scorpio if you change the oil it helps in the short term but it is usually terminal for the auto box look for fine pieces of metal in the oil when you change it

hi
my car(omega 2.5 v6 elite) has started idling like a pig i bought the car about six weeks ago and the last six weekends have been spent sorting out one problem or another
and i think the next six months will be the same i dont think the idling is a big issue but after a run in the car when i park up the rev counter goes up and down like john holmes hand 400 rpm 1000 500 1500 400 1000 1500 500 you get the picture ive done a paper clip test with the engine running and it returns straight 12s
2 weeks ago i changed the rocker cover gaskets due to oil leaking everthing went ok
but ive noticed on some mornings  on starting the car a hissing from the top of the engine somewhere when the engine is hot the hissing stops i dont think this has anything to do with the idling issue as everthing will be gas tight once the engine is hot
another thing i can think of is im running on bp ultimate i dont suppose the octane rating would cause a problem but you never know
also when driving the car i notice when you take your foot of the accelerator pedal the car seems to brake on its own and it scrubs of any speed at an alarming rate
also when you press the sport button put your foot to the floor it takes about 5 seconds before you are pushed into the back of the car

not looking forward to sunday first time under a vauxhall how long should i allow for the job and will i need to buy any tools etc before i start
i dont have any torx sockets what size will i need for the bolts
and are they freely available

Omega General Help / smoke from engine compartment

hi
had the car a week now and the problems just keep cropping up i now have what i think is an oil leak from the rocker cover.
i have a pair on order from vauxhall(another £62.50)but it will now be sunday before i can fit them.
the only worry i have is when the engine gets up to temp oil is dropping somewhere and there is smoke coming from under the bonnet not a lot but it is quite disconcerting when you stop at lights etc.
what i would like to know is am i safe driving with the car like this
when i lift the bonnet the smoke seems to be coming from the left side of the engine under the middle plug lead.
am planning on doing an oil and filter change at the same time as the gasket and also clear the oilways

forgive me if this info is elsewhere on site but i cant find it
i have just bought an omega 2.5 v6 24v s reg elite
i cant get the bonnet to open
pulling on the plastic does nothing although it feels quite firm to pull
is there a way i can get under the hood i want to see if work has been done on the engine as promised when i bought it

Omega General Help / a few problems

hi
just bought an omega 2.5 v6 24v elite 131000 on the clock i have no history whatsoever
with the car.
had it one day now and i am more than happy with it
however a few problems i have noticed are
drivers door creaks on closing (which i believe is an easy fix) a strange smell i can only describe as childrens crayons after about ten minutes driving
the passenger and drivers side cabin temp display doesnt light up though you can still see the display(is this just a bulb and is it an easy fix)
i have a warning  on start up telling me i have a problem with my headlight bulb and rear lights (all are ok and light up as they should)
rear passenger window goes down ok but will not close without help
and finally the blaupunkt changer in the boot is missing the cd storage case are they easily obtainable and what should i pay for one

as i know the omega is the most reliable car ever made  
however i do have a few questions which i will post in the appropriate boards
