Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Sat-Nav what do I need?
« on: 15 February 2008, 16:13:30 »
Hi,

I have a 1999 (pre face lift) MV6 estate 3.0. It currently does not have sat-nav installed, I was wondering what bits I would need (what screen etc.).

Cheers,

Rob.

Omega General Help / Re: More temperature gauge problems
« on: 16 March 2009, 20:44:27 »
I've replaced my sensor today, and still have F instead of the temp. Thanks for the tips, I'll be checking the rest of the wiring tomorrow.

Omega General Help / Handbreak - help please
« on: 02 July 2010, 10:34:17 »
Hi,

Is there anyone in the Sheffield area who can help me follow the guide on sorting my handbreak - my wife doesn't like having to use both hands to take it off an on (and I find it pain as well)! I don't mind travelling an hour or so if you can help out.

Cheers,

Rob.

Omega General Help / Forte engine treatments
« on: 28 May 2010, 13:49:44 »
Hi,

I've used the Forte Advanced Formula Gas Treatment previously. What I'm wondering is, if I use that is there any need to use the Specialist Fuel Injector Cleaner i.e. does the gas treatment also clean the injectors?

Cheers,

Rob.

How's about this one?

I've just emptied a can and half of Carburettor cleaner in to the air intake through the larger breather hose and for the first time since I've owned the car, I've noticed that at idle, my consumption dropped to 0.2ltrs/hr.

What do other people get for consumption at idle?

I get 0.2 with air-con off, 0.3 with air-con on.

I've used Forte Advanced Formula Gas Treatment before and it seems good. The question I've got, is should you also use the Specialist Injector Cleaner?

Omega General Help / EGR sticking
« on: 30 April 2010, 14:57:02 »
Hi,

Thanks to Mark DTM telling me to block my EGR I've found that was the cause of the car stalling. The questions are - can I clean it? should I replace it? is it ok to leave blocked long term? I've found the guide for cleaning the 2.2i, but is the 3.0 one the same?

Cheers,

Rob.

..... Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm quite happy to not spend money getting it done!

Mine hasn't been done for 2 years; does anyone know where a good place is for this in the Sheffield area?

From what I've heard you are meant to replace the gas and make sure they put in some lubricant every two years. This is to ensure the seals are kept in good condition. You should also run your aircon for 10 mins every week to ensure the lubricant gets sent round to the seals. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm quite happy to not spend money getting it done!

Omega General Help / Re: No burning rubber?
« on: 27 April 2010, 15:14:15 »
The only way I've seen to do it a dry straight start is to turn off TC and then have the revs high before letting the clutch go. Without getting revs up to say 4K or slipping the clutch doesn't seem to get the wheels to spin.

Omega General Help / Omega min-facelift Estate MV6 rear bumper
« on: 19 April 2010, 16:15:40 »
Hi,

Are the rear bumpers on the MV6 any different to any of the other models (mini-facelift). This is for a non-colour coded bumper.

Cheers,
Rob.

My car is much better now after a trip to Fleet Fit in Loughborough (they spent 1.5 hours on it). The readings they got were different to the readings at Challenger, my only guess is that Challenger didn't get their equipment calibrated and treated it badly.

Well if others want to recieve the same level of service I recieved they can go to Challenger tyres in Sheffield. If you would like your car to be just right then try elsewhere.

Mark - was it Fleet Fit in Loughborough you said was good?

Cheers.

Dare I ask how much they charged?

£42, and that was meant to include all corrections. However as everything was in the 'green' they wanted to charge that again for each aditional adjustment (and they said that making any further adjustments was a waste of time and would have no effect).

Omega General Help / Are these geometry settings good enough?
« on: 23 March 2010, 08:02:54 »
I have a 1999 3.0 MV6 which has done 90,000 miles. I have had a full geometry setup done, but I'm still not happy with it. The place I went to are not willing to make any charges without charging me a fortune as all values are within their tolerances. What do you think to these?

Cheers,

Rob.
