Omega General Help / Re: Fault codes 19 and 135
« on: 29 July 2008, 19:27:28 »
Thanks very much for the reply guys, havent got time to replace before journey tomorrow but will pick one up to take with me and replace when we arrive.  The car hasn't been starting very well for the last 6 months or so, so this would probably explain that too.  Seems pretty straight forward to do.

Again many thanks, its much appreciated. :y

Omega General Help / Fault codes 19 and 135
« on: 29 July 2008, 14:05:05 »
I have just carried out a paperclip test on my car and it displayed the following fault codes 19 and 135.

I have read up on the fault codes listed in the paperclip test section of the maintenance guides and it states code 19 is incorrect RPM signal.
could this be something i did when i cleaned out my breathers and AICV last weekend?

It states code 135 is a telltale code, low voltage.  What does this mean?

I am off on holiday tomorrow and would like to get this sorted before i go if possible.

Many thanks

Omega General Help / Re: Spare Hose?
« on: 29 July 2008, 13:40:33 »
Thanks for the reply regarding the spare hose.  Does anyone have an idea why my mpg has fallen so much since i cleaned out the breathers and Air idle control valve?  It's fallen to 16mpg today! this is 3-4mpg less than before.  As i mentioned before all vacuum hoses etc are connected.  Will do paperclip test and post results.

Have i done something wrong or is this normal? :-[

Omega General Help / Spare Hose?
« on: 28 July 2008, 20:43:20 »
I spent last Saturday cleaning out the breathers and Air Idle Control Valve on my V6 but have a couple of questions:  I have noticed a drop in mpg since completing this task (used to get between 19 - 20mpg around town, now getting 17mpg, i have checked all the vacum pipes and all seem to be in place and connected correctly.  Secondly i came across a rubber hose about 10mm in diameter at the back of the engine which appears to connect to nothing.  It comes up the rear of the engine just inside the air box that the breathers conect to and just rests under the scuttle. I dont recall disconnecting this hose from anywhere!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.   :-/

Omega General Help / car snatches to one side whilst braking
« on: 10 July 2008, 16:26:44 »
Hi all

My Omega has recently started pulling to one side whilst braking.  This is more noticable at higher speeds but when i apply the brakes the steering snatches to one side for a second then the car settles down and brakes as normal. it feels as though one front brake is working before the other which makes the car quite unstable under braking.

I have had both front wishbones replaced, new front discs & pads 5 months ago by my local Vaux dealer and a full 4 wheel alignment done recently also.  car was initially ok after work was done and has only started this behavour in the last 3 weeks or so.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  :y

Omega General Help / Re: V6 Tick-over RPM
« on: 01 March 2008, 22:22:20 »
Hi Richard.  I have a 2000W reg 2.5 V6 Elite and my tickover can be adjusted manually, there is an adjustment screw on the throttle body just in front of where the throttle cable connects.  It is very small and partly hidden behind the cambelt cover.  I was informed it was only the 2.6 and 3.2 V6's that needed the Tech2 to adjust.  I maybe wrong! :)

Omega General Help / Re: Whinning noises
« on: 01 March 2008, 22:12:10 »
I too have a whinning noise from the engine bay(drivers side front).  Had car checked by VX dealer - turned out to be a worn/broke bearing on the alternator.  Alternator still working fine and supplying correct charge so not to worried about it for now, due cambelt change in summer so will probebly replace then.  If people ask about the noise just say "its the supercharger"!!!!!

Omega General Help / Re: Inconsistant poor starting
« on: 22 February 2008, 16:20:46 »
Did the paperclip test today and apart from codes 12 and 31 (engine not running) there were no other codes.   I felt round the back of the engine for the HBV to see if it was leaking and dripping onto the DIS but it appeared to be dry!  I am getting a damp patch on the drive which is coolant but i only top it up every 6 months or so, it appears to be dripping from the 2 studs on the bottom of the bell housing.

Omega General Help / Inconsistant poor starting
« on: 21 February 2008, 17:03:11 »
Hi everyone. This is the first time i've used a forum so please bear with me.  I have a 2000W reg 2.5V6 Elite Auto which until now has been very reliable.  I have just had the car fully serviced at my local VX dealer but since getting the car back it has not been starting very well.  Sometimes the car will start immidiately with no concerns whilst other times it will turn over for ages and when it does start it feels like its only running on a few cylinders for a second or two.  Once the car is running however it runs like a dream.  The car does have a slight coolant leak as the dealer notified me of coolant stains around the starter motor and the N/S of engine.  Any ideas as to the possible cause of my concern would be greatly appreciated.  Sorry forgot to mention this can happen with both a hot or cold engine. :-?

My 2000W reg V6 Elite has both front and rear heated seats, rotary knobs for the front and push buttons for the rear.  My inlaws have a 52reg CDX V6 which does not have rear heated seats. :)
