Cheers for the ideas guys

If you have a Bose system you'll either have to remove the Bose amp under the parcel shelf and re-wire or devise a way of driving it from the preamp outputs of your head unit.

Kevin

.............are you saying that the bose unit is not just a straight forward preamp out from the head unit ? What inputs is it ? is it split channel for channel prior to leaving the head unit ? got a source of info I can refer to by any chance (wiring diagram / block diagram etc.)

« on: 11 December 2007, 00:18:59 »
Ive a CDR2006 Bose system I was thinking of buying an MP3 compatable head unit (maybe bluetooth for the phone as well)

Anybody done this ? I assume that is i buy one with pre amp out I may also be able to get one compatable with the remote on the steering ?

What do I have to do with the facia arond the CDR2006 ? do I remove the cage and buy a new standard din size ? do they sell blanking panels to fit the strange dash shape it will leave behind ?

Thoughts views and recommendations please

Omega General Help / Re: Whats happens at 3400RPM on a 2.5V6 ?
« on: 21 November 2008, 08:26:52 »
Its misfiring / dieing and dropping back down I really dont feel its a "clean" enough cut its not like reaching the rev limiter. It definatly feels like a fault condition not some sort of get me home mode. There is no fault warning light perminantly on and I havent flashed out the codes yet but may have time later today.

for a start you should never use k seal in anything !! :o :o check plug wells for oil if so could be tracking or dispac knackered  :y

"K seal" I know its a last didtched attempt to keep it going as two garages reached "the couldnt be arsed, couldnt find it, your f***ed sell it" stage despite offering clues. Still it was my last hope and it did stop the leak Im hoping this is just something like dislodged connector or water contaminated wiring (althought the leak was well away from anything electrical)

So where is the location of the second ram air flap or the sensors involved ? - sounds like the right area !

Cheers again

Omega General Help / Whats happens at 3400RPM on a 2.5V6 ?
« on: 20 November 2008, 18:46:04 »
After having fixed a small coolant leak from the back of the engine somewhere under the bulkhead with K-seal as no one could actually find it Ive developed a another problem.

The car drives perfectly apart from a strange power loss/misfire/shut down at 3400 rpm ?

If I put the car in neutral and rev it up to 3400 it just misfires away till it drops back down below these revs. Under this number it works perfectly no smoke, no excess water from exhaust full power etc.

So any ideas what happens at 3400RPM then that might give me a clue as to where to look for unplugged sensor, water contamination or failure etc.

Thanks in advance

PS. Its a W reg facelift Elite 2.5V6 auto BTW

Why is it you cant find paperclips when you need one !  >:(

Still all sorted now codes were .........73.....31.........(31 its a V6 not started soi ignore that) but ..........73 ???

and guess what just thought Id try it again and it started  :y first time after this so wtf is going on ?

anybody had this before ? sounds like this is going to be a right PIA ...................Help !  :-[

LATER ON _

so 73 is low voltage air flow sensor found that here http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/fault_codes/fault_codes.htm#bosch

so where is that physically ? is it really that thats stopping me start the car ? red herring ? and why is it working now ? How long will it work ? Can you really answer the last two questions ? LOL

Where is the crank case sensor as I could make out the loaction of the photo in the maintainence guide ? easy to fit (dont have to drain the oil)  ? expensive ?

...........and Ive just found the maintance guides section so no need for the link to the paperclip test ....off to do that now..............

Ok when turningover engine the following lamps are light

Oil warning (def plenty oil no running problem at all before parking up)
battery warning (fully charged turns over with no problems)
eongine shaped yellow exhaust warning

all normal I think but dosent actually fire ???

Excuse my ignorance but which is the ecu light if its the car shape with the spanner over the top then that never lights ?

Can somebody direct me to the post that shows me how to acess the fault codes please ?

Cheers for the help so far
