My omega had that smell also, it was the aux belt tensioner. It didnt smell all the time, noticed it when I came out of the car usually. I would change it if I was you, couse it aint a expencive part and easy to change.

Could be just a bad connect with the bulb, I have the same fail now and then. Iīve seen it flash once when my wife were driving the car.

I donīt know if this helps you but on my omega I have the original opel wheels so there is offset 38.
