I must admit I am fed up with getting the codes read as they seem to come up with pretty much the same thing each time.
1. lambda sensor - changed
2.MAF - changed
3. Throttle body and breathers cleaned as per schedule. I know I have asked before but surely you should clean out the rocker cover as it is in between the breather pipes? Can anyone give an answer to this please!

I live in a place called Porthcawl, near Cardiff

Can anyone tell me where I can get a tech code reader and how much is it

I forgot to say many thanks for past info and I think this is an amazing forum. Yes it always starts first time and runs well. No I have`nt checked the connections at any of the electrics but I will tomorrow weather permitting.

Well here we go again, the emissions light is back on, but she seems to be running o.k.
1. I have replaced the lambda sensor pre cat.
2. I have replaced the MAF
3. I have cleaned the throttle body and breathers as per maintenance guide, I found loads of mayo and cr..p in the pipes, but something I can`t understand is when you say follow the guide, why then dont you have to clean out the rocker cover, surely this must have cr..p in it if the pipes/tubes either side are choked with mayo, or I am I being totally ignorant?
4. Would it be any advantage to block off the EGR as described in another guide and could this prevent the light coming on?
5. My last question is ,why do all these faults occur or are they just the norm for a vx, as this is my first vx, I think the car is great but I am slowly loosing it? >:(

6
Is it safe to cap off the EGR on a 2.2 or will it cause some damage, because why is it their in the first place.

7
When you say cap off EGR, what do you mean? Bare in mind I`m not as familiar as you Thanks

8
Well obviously I spoke too soon, the light is back on but it seems to be running O.K. any thoughts

9
To quote Victor Meldrew "I don`t believe it" , the light has now gone out and the car seems to be running well. a mystery or what. Many thanks for your post I`l see how it goes unless you can possibly shed some light on this.

Faults on codes showed mass airflow sensor and autobox sensor, this was shown at a garage prior to the new maf being fitted.

Omega General Help / emissions light stays on - 2.2 cd auto 2002

A friend of mine recently replaced the O2 sensor pre cat, as the car was running poorly, he then reset the codes and for about 1 hour all was well. He has  now replaced the mass airflow sensor and again he reset the codes, the car ran for about 60 miles and O.K. but now the emissions light has returned although the car is running fairly well I am still concerned. Has anyone any suggestions.

After removing the throttle mechanism, would it be worth soaking it in Redex over night to remove any cr..p or can anyone suggest a better treatment.

Can anyone comment on whether Redex damages sensors or is it really as good as the manufacturer claims on cleaning up injectors etc.....
