« on: 14 January 2011, 21:28:02 »
had same prob a while ago tried 2 new sensors last one was genuine gm but still the same .turned out to be a broken wire unclip the two plastic trunking s ie the one on the front of cam cover and the one above the injectors trace the cam sesore wire and check where it enters or exits the plastic moldings mine had rubbed through on one of these have  a good look at the plug as well as i believe wires tend to get pulled and break hope this helps   best of luck westy  :y

Omega General Help / Re: 2 litre coolant leak possibly head gasket?
« on: 04 February 2011, 11:29:12 »
that ally housing has 2 temp sensors screwed into it and a paper gasket between that and the head i think ther are 3 bolts securing it to the back of the head but very fiddly to get at you might see more with the scuttle panel removed also have a good look at the heater valve just to the left it seems these are prone to leaking, ps theres a how to remove the scuttle in the maintananc section .    good luck :)

sorry to say but sounds like head gasket to me, mine had the same symptoms as yours but i had no external leaks or mixing of oil and water mine just used water and missed when started from cold or if left for more than an hour after a good run. The leak or water you can see has probably been caused by extra pressure in the cooling system.  you can slacken off the expansion bottle cap to release the pressure  just after you park it up for the evening, chances are it wont misfire when you start it next, also check the plugs see if they are all the same colour one clean plug probably means water getting into that cylinder.  as for k seal definitely not or any other leak stopper they cause more problems down the line headgaskets are straight forward enough of a job on these let us know how you get on all the best  westy :-/

check all the drive train ie prop-shaft center bearing dough nut joints each end, also is there much play in the rear cv joints ? does your handbrake work ok I've had mine stick on a little before and cause noise and vibration at lower speeds
engine and gearbox mounts might be worth checking as well
as these if out of line can cause same .     best of luck with it  mate westy :y

Omega General Help / Re: limping miggy please help
« on: 20 October 2009, 20:00:18 »
thanks for all your help chaps ,miggys cam sensor is now fixed .  after talking to a friend i decided to check the loom around the engine and found a broken wire on the cam sensor lead, where it goes into the trunking in front of the timing belt cover, the edge of this cover had wore its way through the lead so ecu was not getting a signal from said sensor what a relief !..... thanks again great site will let you know how iget on with the rest of it   all the best , westy :y

definitely cam sensor mate new one came with new  plug and about 9" of lead with bare wires on end  sensor looks the same as the old one but has slightly different plug hence new lead   the dealer said this was quite normal as oruigenal is no longer available from opel so as they recommended we cut off the old lead and soldered in the new one and fitted new sensor which hasn't changed a thing.                     as regards is it worth doing up yes definitely  i bought this car when it was just over a year old its a irish  20 cd omega  but is same spec as  uk elite and is in mint cond ows me nothing well worth the work especially in these times we live in

i have a problem with my omega it still wont rev past 4500 rpm and my mates  code reader still says cam sensor incorrect signal i have now fitted 2 cam sensors the first was a cheap after market 2nd one genuine opel this one had a modified plug and wire .i have also found damaged wires in the long plastic trunking above injectors no3 injector wires insulation had been worn through by one of the wires running through this trunking. could this have damaged the ecu ? are there any common places for the cam sensor wires to break other than the plug end? no 3 plug looked weak  now wires are insulated again all the plugs are same color please help ! :-/
