It might be the top hose where it joins the block just above the power steering pump, I had this go and a new pipe was £20 from Vauxhall. There's an elbow in the pipe that can wear down and when it goes the coolant runs down the side of the engine.

Firstly, thanks for the replies on my vacuum pipe issue. Now for your next challenge: when I switch the lights on the headlight/taillight warning comes on. I've checked and sidelights, dip, main beam and the rear lights are all fine. Is there a way of getting the computer to agree with me? :-/
