Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: In car freeview

Freeview is pretty crap in the "tin tent" as the aerial height is pretty low and gets obstructed easily (Digital broadcasts are line-of-sight from the transmittter), I would imagine that a car would be even worse as the aerial is lower and the line-of-sight is continually moving, as well as numerous obstructions .. ie passing lorries/buses etc etc  :(

All Tv signals are line of sight from the transmitter......in fact anything above SW is line of site transmission!

As said many times before, there is no such thing as a digital signal.....its simply a standard analogue transmission carrying digital info......in simple terms an enhanced version of the teletext coding in the top set of un-viewed lines on 'analogue'!

Its not more prone to multipath than analogue, its simply a case of that it has a greater imapct on the signal.....on an analogue picture you would see graining or faint ghosting....on digital pictures it directly impacts on the de-compression algorithms and hence results in an increased BER (Bit Error Rate) and sudden picture loss

Generally caused by oil in the diff with no/knackered friction modifiers.

Make sure all 8 bolts are out and then start at a corner wiggling whilst pulling

woo, 2 into 1. Did assume 2 sections through out...interesting to see if that effects power and economy...
...and also that they would put the 02 bosses in the new section, dont know why i thought that tho.

Power seems up the car seems to pull a lot harder up the revs befor having to change up. MPG seems up to on a hard run back from Cov to Leicester had 30mpg  and on the run there at 70 mph had 34MPG.

so seem up by a few MPG .

Has a nice note to it also a kind of deep note to it. :y

Best bit is not having that light on  ;D ;D

Which sudgests the old one was pretty knackered rather than the new one being better than standard!

The exhaust setup on the Omega is not the limiting factor once you are past the manifolds!

Second, as to bridging out the switch altogeher, get a proper switch.  you can bridge it out but what happens if the existing brake switch fails: cruise stays engaged just when you do not want it to.  It may be a million to one chance but if you bridge it out and it contributes to an accident?

Least of your worries.....it sets it up as per a manual car configuration (and almost all other car configurations out there) and your biggest concern will be the person behind who is now carrering into your back-end due to no brake lights.

Bridge it out....

Wire the two wires together, the brake switch is not important to the cruise operation on the auto as the same signal is derived via auto box wiring so can safely be done away with.....

How dare they charge full sting for a spark plug change when doing the camcover gaskets.....plus, why are there two different sealents listed.....

Jumping gauges and no change in engine revs points towards a power supply fault....so I suspect a faulty alternator which is going intermittent.

what type of registered person do you need if you want gas work done at home?

dont think thats right, think you can do the work yourself but before useing it has to be checked by a registered person, but i could be wrong on this

my take is .... you can work on gas as long as it's not for commercial/finacial gain!

You have to be able to prove compitency

It makes no odds, the quality of the work is still hit and miss (and rarely in line with the regs)

I would replace it with a thermal breaker that takes out the mains input - so doesn't have to switch the full output current. Mount it in good thermal contact with the transformer or rectifier, whichever gets hottest under duress, and it will at least keep it safe. I suspect it's there so that it it's left charging a flat battery that's pulling a lot of current it limits the temperature of the charger.

If the mains input isn't fused I would fuse it or fit a circuit breaker to protect against short-term abuse too.

Kevin

Problem here is that a shorted output would destroy a rectifier diode for faster than it takes for the thermal mass of the diode body to get to a point where the trip would kick in.

This method does work well for transformer protection though!

First question has to be................what is the output current.

If within the range of standard domestic MCB's then you could use one of these as they are rated at 60VDC
