Omega General Help / Auto box slow
« on: 22 January 2009, 09:33:41 »
Please help me my miggy 2.5 V6 auto has a problem. When it is cold (the car not the weather) the car will not change gear or rev beyond two to two and a half thousand revs as you set off in " D"

However it will change manually 1...2...3....D and it seems fine when it's warmed up a bit.

Could it be the fluid (not sure when the last change was)or something more sinister???

Please help !!!   :-[

I had similar problem with mine although fuel was litteraly running from the exhaust !   :o

Found it to be the injector loom trapped between the bulkhead top and the wiper linkage. Dangreous, but a cheap fix  :y

No not yet, thanks for that I will have a look, is a blocked matrix common?

I have to say that the help from this site is superb  :y  BUT. My experience with my car and the sheer amount of problems posted on here about the Omega in general is starting to make me wonder if I have bought a bit of a problem car.........sorry for the moan, just my 2p worth.  :-[

Omega General Help / crap heater
« on: 30 September 2008, 21:20:09 »
Hi all, Well with winter fast approaching I have been testing my Omegas heater (and heated seats, which don't work !!) and found it to be very poor indeed.  :( To call it luke warm would be stetching the truth to the extreme. So is there any common faults and fixes I can look into doing??? I have searched but not come up with anything helpfull.

Many thanks, Jim.   :y

It sounds a lot like mine although it has never cut out on the move so I am lucky.

I am just going out to change mine now. (after a quick coffee) As I work at an accident repair centre our parts dept and perrys vauxhall let me order both types of sensor to be delivered yesterday. So I could take them both home, fit the correct one over the weekend. Then return the other one and pay for the one I use on monday. Thanks guys!!!  :y

Right kettle on wish me luck.

I will if I have to, but I anoly did the oil, filter and crank sensor the day before :-[ and it just seems a shame to throw away all that lovely fresh golden oil.  :'(

I'VE ONLY BLOODY FIXED IT !!! with thanks to the guys on this site. But Kevin gets the gold star as it was a short on the main injector loom.

Some muppet in the past has worked on it and pushed the injector loom between the top of the bulkhead and the windscreen wiper linkage  >:( >:( so over time it has steadily worn through and shorted four of the wires ( I even took a piccy)

So after some quite daring (for me) spanner work I found the fault and phoned my best mate Jay who is an auto electrician and he then repaired the wires and we got it put back together before dark  :y It runs great, the warning light has gone out , and it has been slowly burning/ evaporating all that fuel that was in the exhaust with a lovely smell.

Thanks again to all who replied. Credit to a great site ! :y

Also just out of interest it may be worth adding that just prior to this my car was averaging 19 to the gallon! With carefull use too. I knew it wouldn't be cheap to run but that can't be average surely ?

Ok many thanks, I have seen from other posts on here that you are quite the techie. so I just look for dodgy/ corroded connectors. Also has anyone seen this before as the amount of fuel dripping from the exhaust was shocking to say the least !!   :o
