:ocan anyone tell me if i need new passenger climate control panel or if the panel has replaceble bulbs my passenger control panel works fine but does not light up when head lights on were the rest of my dash board does including right hand climate control panel, stereo, switchs, everything else fine but passenger temp display.help this bugs me total do not wish to take dash apart if cant change bulb

I asked my Dad about this when I looked at the 'Mega before buying it off him. The left side and middle displays didn't work. I asked if he'd mentioned it at Vauxhall when it was serviced, this was his reply...

"They told me they've got to take half the dash out to do it so its gonna be expensive,so when they told me they wanted £200  :o :o to repair it I said just finish the service so I can pick it up"

I replied.. "leave it with me!!"

I Promptly 'borrowed' the car, nipped dowm to Vauxhall, picked up 2 bulbs (fixed cap twist type that cost me about a fiver) and half an hour of my time late and they were fixed  :y

So can someone please tell me how they can justify this sort of money to a job that takes half an hour??  :-?

At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask when he robbed people!!!!

Yes, fault with one sensor, or the motors in the headlight units will put them low...

Tech2 will show why you are getting the error...

You have PM!!
Not yet I haven't...?

You have now..... :y

Not used to these fast responces after being on the 21TOC boards for years LMAO!!!!  ;D

Following on from the suggested fault I removed both the front and rear level sensors for the headlight system to find that the balljoints and links on both sensors had corroded and seized.

I freed off the balljoints and then took the top (the lever arm) off both sensors and made sure they moved freely.

Put it all back together and..........STILL NO SELF LEVELLING  :( and 'Headlight Field/Vision' still on the display  :(

If one of the sensors was faulty, would this stop the good sensor from carrying out any adjustment and put it into a 'safe' mode?? Coz the headlights are nice and bright, its just that they are incredibley low which in turn doesn't really light the road up  :'(

Mr Theboy...is your diagnostic tool able to tell me which sensor is faulty and if so are you able to look at it for me?? Please!!  ;) I'm going to be about later on on Thursday this if thats any good???

Want to get to the bottom of it and get the headlamps working as they should.

Cheers

Roj

Does yours display the fault 'Headlight Field/Vision' as well?? And if so,what fault did yours come up with??
Or is it that your adjusting motors have given up??

Correct, related to headlamp levelling.  Need to read codes to find code, cannot paperclip it. Need a code reader that can read headlamp codes....

And I don't suppose you'd happen to know someone that has a code reader for headlamp codes do you.... :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Xenon headlight problem?
« on: 16 November 2006, 21:40:04 »
After finally picking the car up on Tuesday I noticed something that didn't seem right.

After starting the car up the multi function unit displays 'Headlight field/vision'

Is this related to the self levelling system for the headlights?? Coz my Dad thought it was because a front sidelight bulb had blown!!!

Now I know the systems going to be different to my old Espace, but the Xenons on that used to drop to the lowest setting when you'd turn the lights off, then when you turn them back on you would hear the motors operating and see the lights raise up to the correct level.

On the Tractor i've not seen them move or heard the motors adjusting them,is this related to the above display??

And if so,is there anyway of doing the 'paperclip test' to determine which sensor is faulty??
Failing that, can the sensors be tested with a multimeter for resistance??

Thanx in advance..

Roj (A happy Tractor driver  :y )

Thanks for your advise everyone - I guess that the cheaper option is to get the AR35 box and make the change??

So does anyone know where I can get a trustworth AR35 from, and would anyone be interested in helping me make the swap, as Im no mechanic :-[Thanks again.... Phil
LOL, we're doing 2 tomorrow, and trying to source 2 at short notice has been 'stressful'....

Fancy some added stress LOL - No seriously if you think you can help me in the coming week, I'd be very very greatful..  I only bought the car last week, and me, my missus and broken cars have a bad track record - she has been laying into me big time - right now I've got puppy eyes and my tail is tucked neatly between my legs  :(

Omega General Help / 2.5td auto box - Help urgently needed!!
« on: 16 June 2007, 11:46:22 »
I own a 2.5 td. the one with the bmw engine.  my auto box is playing up.  she maintains engine speed but does not go anywhere fast.    had vauxhall plug in to the ecu this morning and the fault relates to the solenoid on 2nd and 3rd not functioning properly!  can anyone help.  someone suggested getting a 3 litre auto box and replacing with my one or would it be cheaper to replace  the solenoid on my box ?  any help would be greatly appreciated.   oil and filter were changed on box at christmas  tks

Can't say fairer that any of that!!!! I'd like to try one thats been 'played with' as a comparison to my own because although mine goes ok it could definately do with a bit more grunt  :y

Perhaps have to arrange a meet up some time soon to discuss my options (defo like the sound of the Dragon box, have to let me know what your after for it  :y )
Although after a blast in a 'proper' chipped one though I could be swayed... ;)

Have you run it up on a rolling road and if so what sort of power and torque is yours running now?? And do I take it its more than the Tuning Box gave you??

Questions questions!!!

Oh yeah, how many miles has yours done?? Mines pushing 145k but the engine feels strong,my only concern is the auto box  ::) don't want to kill it off!! How do they react to more power?? Are they upto the job??

Cheers

Mine now has a whole 98000 on it, Dragon box really does do the job for not much money, with intercooler they reckon about 175bhp and stacks of torque!!!
autobox may be the weak point with an ecu remap tho!!! as its all or nothing, where as the dragon you can turn it up till your happy and leave it there,
mine has completre fiting instructions and is in the original packaging,
cost me over 200 will take 145
Omegatoy[/quote]

You beat me to it!!! Just posted.....
So you fancy a meet up?? I'll take the box off your hands,I got the cash waiting so not a problem  ;)
As a matter of interest what sort of power/torque increases does it claim??

How you fixed for next weekend?? I see your down Oxford way?? Maybe I could take a run down and drop in on Jaime on the way back to get him to give me a plug in for my headlights (missed him last week!!)  :y

And i'd defo be interested in a run out in yours....with 200bhp its gotta be fun!!!

I'll PM you my number if you want to arrange times etc.

Cheers

Kinda makes you laff though don't it what with diesel tuning being the way to go these days, here we are with a 2.5L 6 pot pushing out a measly 130 bhp when the latest Toyota's and VW's are pushing 180bhp and 170bhp respectively and all from a 2.2 and 2.0 4 banger!!!!

Can you imagine what these are going to be pushing once the tuners get hold of them?  :o :o

Well if I can coax 160bhp outta mine then its gotta be worth it for the sheer increase in torque coz after all thats what its all about in a diesel engine  :y
