Sorry, looks like I didn't explain properly. The sun blind didn't do anything in its original state.

After taking the switch apart and fitting an led the switch/blind now work okay.

Thanks anyway ;)

I understood you!  ;)
Probably a cr4ppy connection that was cleaned up a little by removing & replacing the switch. It'll be even better when it comes back out again to put a proper tungsten lamp back in!  ;D ;D ;D

Noooooooo, after all the sore finger ends I got doing them they are staying RED :)

Just got to get in the right mind to do everything else now, only done the climate units and all the switches underneath them so far.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Sun Blind info

This may help someone. My rear sunblind didn't do anything when I pressed the button on the dash, no cliks and no sign of movement. I have just had all the switches out to swap to leds and after replacing the rear blind switch the unit now works as it should.

I don't know if the switch just needed to be pulled out and put back to make a better contact or if the original bulb was blown and needed to be good for the blind to work, maybe someone with electrical knowledge can answer that?

May be worth having a look at the switch if your blind isn't working though.

Just to add one thing, I have just replaced all the bulbs in my climate control unit with led's using the very helpful guide. The bit I wanted to add was I found it quite difficult to remove the bulbs until I unclipped the complete PCB from the unit, it was then very easy. hth

Right so the big bit of plastic actually lifts out. Will give it a go when I can get missus to press the switch for me. Wasn't sure if the blind came out from under the cover or what and so far everything I have looked in the Haynes for has not een there. Cheers again ;)

If I have the switch on the dash, (96 3.0 Elite) will this definately mean I have the blind?

I get no clicks or anything when I press the button and looking on th rear shelf cant see exactly what is supposed to happen. There is a beige(ish) plastic cover, does this bit raise up or does the blind come from under it?

Do they light up if you hold the switch pressed in? Have had switches where they stop 'latching' in that gives similar results. If you hold the switch in does the seat start to warm up?

Not sure about facelifts but my pre-facelift looks exactly the same as the switch on my Vectra

look again its totally different ! :-?

Looks exactly the same to me. I haven't pulled the Omega one out so it could be different at the back though.

completly different at the front too matey ! :-/

Just wanted to add, I am taking advice on if I should sue Spec Savers or not. While on a quick glance the switch units looked to be the same the one on my Omega IS different.

WIll they fit though Mark as the vec one is a lot nicer looking?

Sorry about that,

Neil ;)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Pre-Facelift Switches
« on: 09 December 2008, 14:04:57 »
Hi peeps,

Can anyone tell me if the prefacelift switches, (heated seats, recirc etc.) in the Omega are the same as the prefacelift Vec? They look very similar to me but until I get one out I'm not sure.

I am going to be fitting led's into the switches and have some spare vec ones if they are the same. I realise the long TC switch on the Omega is completely different, its just the others.

Cheers, Neil

I am new to Omegas so not sure how the contacts make on the end/inside the barrel but it sounds like thats where your problem is to me. I am sure someone will let you know shortly though ;)

My sceptisism may be preceeding me, but does this look dodgy to anyone else? Electromagnet technology to detect non ferrous material?

Ah but metallic paint on the plastic bumpers ;)
