Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: CCR2005 Headunit Code
« on: 15 February 2010, 15:03:32 »
I changed my battery last weekend. Same CCR2005 model. Snapped the battery retaining plate bolt off when undoing. I filed it flat, centre popped it, drilled it out, tapped it swapped the battery. Reconnected up and my head unit didnt need a code and remembered all presets!! Must have been disconnected well over 15mins. Was expecting a decode bill 4 sure - as I had no code when I bought the car.

Omega General Help / 2.2 Cut out and now won't start........
« on: 12 March 2011, 20:28:13 »
Travelling home this evening car suddenly acted as if I'd depressed clutch (I hadn't) and then carried on as normal. A mile down the road it did it again and cut out and wouldn't start. Had to get son in law to tow me home. Has any fellow members experienced this symptom before? At a loss to explain this at the moment........any ideas????

So if any one reads this, easier to work from below

True for 4-pot not so for V6 pal.

Evening folks. Does anyone know or can anyone tell me from experience what the welded nut size is that accepts the lambda sensors on a 2.2? [Assume same for V6?]
Reason for asking = bought an aftermarket frontpipe assembly and the rear lamba sensor "socket" is right on TOP of the exhaust - thus rattling against the floorpan. Haven't got time to mess about returning it - due to work comittments - so need to seal up the one on top and drill hole in SIDE of pipe and weld a suitable nut on to accept sensor [the one after the cat]. The one before cat is well clear of everything.
P.S. Is thread metric?

Then I can just go and buy a nut and do the job. Hope someone knows?

P.P.S. No. I haven't got an endless supply of nuts of varying sizes to try on a released lamda.

Omega General Help / Re: HBV on a 2.2 - advice anyone?
« on: 22 February 2010, 19:50:54 »
Thanks ians.
Reading other threads it appears as though when HBV goes its dramatic rather than gradual, but yours seems to be gradual, too.
You say you got at it from underneath? Does this mean I'd be wasting my time removing wipers/scuttle then? And just attacking from underside?
Yes I'm going genuine as a mates son works in local mainstealers parts dept.

Omega General Help / HBV on a 2.2 - advice anyone?
« on: 21 February 2010, 18:01:59 »
Evening all.
I have searched the forum for any info regarding changing the HBV on a 2.2 but not having much luck [mainly v6 info]........can anyone point me in the right direction to a post?
Or - can anyone tell me where its located on engine and basically whats involved in changing it? Must be pretty similar to v6 I guess?
Symptoms - losing about a pint of coolant a week. Tested compression and not head gasket. No hoses leaking. Noticed some loss of coolant under car usually after a short journey.

There's a guide somewhere on here dude. Its a shortcut and doesnt involve taking half the car to bits, but involves a slight cosmetic "butchering" of some trim panel in footwell.

I.M.H.O. [for what its worth] - if old gasket is reasonably intact then refit with a dab of hylomar for now, but I'd replace soon-as. Costs pence and is ridged. [P.S. I'm not an engine expert!]

Get the metal tube off that the right angled pipe at rear of engine attaches to and clean that out in a similar manner, mate. Two 13mm bolts. Right next to exhaust so make sure engine cool before commencing and you will need a new gasket too before dismanteling.

The guide is bang-on.

If its "old black crud" as you say then its just accumulated over the years because its prob never been cleaned. My throttle body butterfly was absolutely ditched in thick, dried black crud. Its like a new pin now and much better. The tiny hole in the sidewall was blocked solid, too. It aint now.

Large amounts of "mayo" in breathers could mean underlying grief though.
