Unfortuneately they do not do the sensibly thing and replace the Water Pump automatically while it is all stripped down to do the Timing Belt. Great pity because the Pump is only about £25 but it means a Major strip down to do it.Wishing you the Best and Hope it has been done because if it does leak it ruins the Timing Belt and Adjuster and can lead to Major Engine Damage!!!

Omega General Help / Caution When Fitting Crank Sensor V6 !!!
« on: 30 May 2007, 21:22:36 »
When fitting New sensor Best to leave old cable in place and cut both ends of tidy.
As will been seen in previouse post i tried to pull old cable out  but this had been tiewrapped to Engine Tempreture Gauge and Coolant Switch to ECU leads which then became Disconnected.
Unfortuneately the only way to reconnect these is to remove the Inlet Manifold and pay Mr Vauxhall Lots of Money for New Seals !!!! :( :( :( :(
Hope this post saves others the Hassle i experianced :) ;)

Mark also suggests cleaning the MAF contacts with computer foam clean :-?

Mine ran excessive rpm last year Tunnie after I'd cleaned the breathers, turned out to be nothing more sinister than a sticking butterfly.

Not Adviseable to to clean with Computer foam clean as this is Water based ! Far better to use Electrical Contact cleaner. :y

Sorry my friend but it sounds very much like the Alternator.
First check all the main fuses in under bonnet compartment and all the connections at Alternator.
Doubtfull, but have you tried another battery?

Price is over the top but when you take in to consideration the Low miles still a Bargain.
What ever you do , Change Cambelt and Water Pump as soon as possible .
It would be real shame to Spoil such a nice car.
Recommended change is 40000 miles or 4 Years so it is LONG ! LONG ! OVERDUE !
Try and find a reliable Garage that you can Trust not the Muppets at Vauxhall Dealerships.
Unless of you want to finish up on the hard shoulder Just 500 miles later as i did on the way to my Holidays !

Omega General Help / Re: Strange noise @ >3000RPM
« on: 30 December 2006, 14:23:34 »
As the Boy says if the pipe splits on the Pump side of the Secondary Air Injection Solenoid you will only hear the noise for the first minute approx after starting up. However if pipe splits on the exhaust side of Solenoid, which mine did, the noise will be ther all the time.

By the way it is normally the one from the pump that goes First unless disturbed :y

The Auxiliary  pump is mounted down low Nearside front in the engine bay i believe but the hoses that split are at the top near Radiator  towards centre of car. You can usally hear then blowing even on tickover but gets worse with revs . Sounds similar to a blowing manifold.

Check pipes from Auxiliary air pump as these do split and give the same noise.
