Hi Dave

Do you fit etc?  As my parents live in Paignton!!!  I can see a run down the M5 coming on.

Hello All

Reposting this topic to this section as I think it is better here than in general... Have added The Boys comments in italics

I have now had my wagon for a month now and really like it, but would love to make four upgrades.  I though have just been made redundant .......    so at least I have the time.  This should give you some creative thought as the aim is to go for these as cheap as possible...

The car is a 53 plate 2.2 petrol GLS manual so in no particular order.

1. Interior rear lights, there are no lights in the rear passenger compartment except for the puddle lights in the doors.  There are only blanks in the rear hand grabs over the rear doors (WHY!!!) Anyways is it a simple as nipping down a scrappers getting two appropriate lights and fixing them into a hopefully existing wiring loom?
If not then could I look at actually tapping into the wiring for the front interior lights, running a feed into the rear and fitting a spare from the scrappers front interior unit into the rear, would be a nice set up like modern cars....

1) not sure about loom - easy to check.

2. Rear parking sensors, is a cheap retro fit item from Halfords powered off the ciggy lighter the best bet?

2) generally fed from reverse lights, cheap ones suffer more false alarms, esp if not kept clean

3. Cruise control, is the wiring loom already there (its a big hope but I may just be lucky?) If not how big is the wiring job, I have wired car stereos before.......

3) all it needs is the stalk (and possibly clutch switch on manuals), but will need to be enabled in ECU via Tech2

4. Double DIN head units, I just have the standard rent a corsa CD player, what double DIN unit would you guys fit, with SAT NAV if poss.  Wiring it does not bother me as I do have a load of experince doing radios in cars.....

4) NCDC201x are the factory fit satnavs, though you'll need to change the screen as well. If you go down this route, do your research around security coding

Hello and welcome

Just quickly had the sameish prob on a carlton once, try cleaning every contact you can see in the circuit, and check all your wiring is protected by its outers.  Also do you have any water leaks in the fuse box?

Hello All

Wow what a day, I traided in my failing 53 plate mark IV Astra 2.0 DTI Estate with 107k on it for a 53 plate 2.2 GLS with 42k on it.......

In fact is that a record, a 53 plate car with only 42k on it??  Sadly it wont stay like that for long as I do that a year!

So hello all, and if some of you are trying to figure out my drives note, E34 BM stands for a 95 5 series beemer........... let the abuse start  ;D

Cheers

You are a total loon, I have taken my BMs sideways many times especially my current E34 525i with LSD, but your pics are mad!!  was thinking if the miggy would make a good sideways car but the bulk was worring me when it started to shoulder over on very quiet roundabouts, may have to investigate further on a carpark.....  ;)

Actually best car for sideways fun I ever had was a late 2.0 auto Carlton, my god did that car teach me about opposite lock control!

Bit of a side line to this discussion, but my unbadged 53 plate GLS gets some interesting reactions on the motorways from other drivers.....
