I had the car serviced before  xmas and put some slick 50 in as well. Had a good run last week upto Sheifield and leeds so it does have longish journeys. I've asked wether the breather system might be partailly bnocked but not really got an answer.

Omega General Help / light brown gunge in oil filler neck
« on: 09 March 2010, 17:44:29 »
Can anyone please tell me another reason why I'm getting this gunge in the filller neck. The facts so far are no oil in expansion tank and no water in oil .  Head gaskets were  done last year , its not bcause I'm only doing short runs either . Been told you get a little in when its cooler weather but its moer than that . I'm relying on the few die hard omega members out there know whats going on.

Thanks in advance.

Omega General Help / Re: Blocked breather pipes
« on: 28 January 2010, 15:40:36 »
Probably with the white stuff we have had. water levels are ok and just had a service a few weeks back. When the weather improves I'll look at the haynes manual about the breather pipes and clean em out. Another topic is fuel injectors , can they get really noisey as I thought some of the lifters might be on the way out. The tapping is more noisey over the plenum area than over the rocker covers.

What effect do blocked pipes have. Wil there be a buid up of anything at all. Only asking because now theres some gunge in the oil filler neck and I'm worried because the h/gaskets were done last year. Theres no gunge in expansion tank which narrows it down I suppose. I also think one of  the new rocker gaskets has gone as well. Another thing as well , aircon comp relay , Wheres that situated ?

Just as well i put new one in with the recent service although the car still steams up inside for some reason. I'd read somewhere about the scuttle drain holes if blocked can contribute to steamed up windows?

How much effect on the air con will a dirty pollen/cabin filter have , will affect the temp inside.

Surely if the stat was u/s the engine would not reach  operating temperature !!

Omega General Help / heated washer jets
« on: 17 December 2009, 21:14:13 »
I've facelift cdx with supposedly heated washers but which ones  , the screen or the headlights. I'm only asking because there does not seem to be any warm water. I think it worked when I first got the car but after the head gaskets bein replaced etc , I dont think they are working now. How excactly are the jets heated ?

Omega General Help / Re: Head gasket Problem
« on: 19 September 2009, 22:30:35 »
I had my gaskets , belts , thermo , oil cooler and pulleys done on mine a couple of months back. The cost was 800 and thats on the low side. I think cooler went first which then affected heads resulting in overheating. The cars been great since ,  I think a tell tale sign of gaskets is pressure build up in the top hose as was the case with mine.

Omega General Help / Re: Best Radiator Flush Method?
« on: 12 August 2009, 12:27:57 »
I've actually got truck wash in at the moment after the oil cooler went on me I was told to run it for a week to help clear any gunge left after initial flushing. Its certainly doing the job and will soon drain and fill as normal.

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5 V6 slow coolant loss and oil mayo
« on: 05 August 2009, 21:52:48 »
I have just forked out 800.00 smackers for new Headgaskets and pulley and cam belt. This started when the car overheated with mayo in the header tank. Firstly had new oil cooler fitted and thermostat but still overheated. The top hose was pressurizing and blowing the header cap so a cylinder test was done The readings were down on the rhs head , same side as the top hose. This clinched the it so now the car is perfect , no pressurizing and temp sitting at 90 with all fans kicking in , heater working as it should . So really if the cooling system is under pressure on the top hose after doing the varous other test then I'd say h/g. Its a lot of dosh but I'm happy knowing the top half will last a while now.I'm running the car with some truck wash to help clear out any brown gunge then redoing the system with cean water and antifreeze.Dont know if this helps?
