Am I missing something? Why try and break something that works  :-/

Because the near side had a broken plastic clip and is loose.... ;D

Removing the repeater lamp made no change in flash speed whatsoever, nor any bulb failure warning, so I've ordered a pair of smoked lens LED replacements.

Please note....this is on my CTS NOT an Omega, but hey....It's still GM... ;D

Would changing the side repeaters to LED ones cause the bulb failure warning to trigger, and/or would they change indicator flash speed?

 8-)

They're completely seperate from the bulb failure warning, but it's a good chance your indicators will flash faster as they'll think one has failed ..... unless they've a compensating resistor in them.

Cheers for that.  I'll remove a bulb to see what happens to the flash speed..

I Think it is checked, so could make a difference.

When was it last changed?

I changed the whole number plate lamp unit a few weeks ago....been getting MID's ever since...hope the MID's prior to changing were just that it was blown for some time..

Yet another pair of bulbs from a different VX dealer.

Parts chappy assured me they came out of a box with VX all over it.

And they are.......Osram again.

And........warnings still coming up.

Do you still have the car accessory shop in the town centre, or just Halfords on the outskirts?
None in the town centre anymore iirc

Might try the other local VX dealer in Flitwick

I wouldn`t use the Halfords ones - and the Vauxhall ones may still be from a bucket of cheapies in the stock room, unless of course they were individually boxed with the Vx logo on the box, but I`ll make the assumption that you asked for bulbs, and you were given a couple of loose bulbs over the counter.

 :-/

The symptoms described are classic of either a bulb changing resistance, or a dodgy joint somewhere

They were indeed loose and un-boxed....just had a look, and they are Osram......no sign of a VX logo!

So where can I get VX bulbs if my dealer won't supply em?

I have seen similar problems with other car marques that have come into us.

Favourite culprit is el-cheapo bulbs that appear to have a slightly different resistance, but just enough for the bulb sensors to think they have blown.

Personally, I now ignore "own brand" bulbs or any without a big name I have heard of, and tend to stick to Ring or Bosch.
After the warnings started...about 3 months ago, I first stuck in some Halfords bulbs....warnings still there.

After reading on here, went and got proper Vauxhall replacements from my local dealer....warnings remain.

None at all this morning going to work at 7am in the cool, but coming home tonight at 4pm got one every other touch of the brake pedal.. :(

It may not be connected. Have you physically checked the lights? It may be that you have a loose filament, changing bulbs could be the cheap answer, but it is a coincidence I admit. ::)

Yup...lights checked....bounced and thumped!!

1. Brand new number plate light unit fitted.
2. Proper VX lamps fitted.
3. Earth connection under boot shut trim checked cleaned and tightened.

Still getting the irritating warning...strangely, it seems to come up more when the weather is hot.

Might be connected....fuel gauge plummets to empty with low fuel flashing when I fill tank to the brim. Fuel gauge works ok after a gallon or two used.

Suggestions please guys........ :)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Remote Locking Problem.....
« on: 05 August 2008, 19:27:57 »
I finally contacted Ofcom last Friday, had a phone call in reply to my email within 10 mins.... :o

Ofcom guy came round tonight armed with some impressive kit.....took him all of five mins to identify the problem.

Next door's Sky magic eye had gone faulty, and was transmitting a constant signal flooding the area. Embarresment for them then...she was telling me the other day how fed up she was with her BMW locking playing up, and how her TV picture had got very poor... ;D

Any resolution to this? I am intrigued!

Having now spoken to several neighbours, all are having the same problem with key fobs (various makes of vehicles), but none have had any new transmitting equipment.

Still getting a strong signal on my scanner at 433.92 Mhz, which does a double bleep every couple of minuites.

Several of us have now emailed/written to Ofcom to see if they can help

Its a real pain......................!!
