That's an odd one. Dad has trouble with the fob for his Harley under mobile masts and some cctv installations

The problem has returned this morning................

I remembered I had a scanner somewhere, so I've had a play with it, and found a very strong signal at 433.90/433.92 Mhz around my house and into the front garden.

If I press my key near the scanner I can hear it transmitting, same with my doorbell push.
Now realised its also blocking my lounge/dining room electric blinds.

Any ideas guys............?

If you have a scanner, make a loop aerial, plug it in and go hunting.

Ahh, a bit of fox hunting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transmitter_hunting

As Dave said, fabricate some sort of directional antenna and see if you can find the source. It can be fun.

License exempt devices are supposed to only be capable of transmitting in small bursts so they can't jam the allocated frequency but if something has gone wrong it could be a duff device of some sort transmitting permanently I guess.

Also be aware that 433.92 is in an amateur radio band so a local amateur could be using it, although it's unlikely that they'd be doing so for long periods at a time.

In light of your blinds etc also being remote control, before chasing around, kill the power to the house and just make sure its not one of your own devices thats gone faulty

Having now spoken to several neighbours, all are having the same problem with key fobs (various makes of vehicles), but none have had any new transmitting equipment.

Still getting a strong signal on my scanner at 433.92 Mhz, which does a double bleep every couple of minuites.

Several of us have now emailed/written to Ofcom to see if they can help

Its a real pain......................!!

Shut down the power to each house one by one to determine where the rogue device is located.

Could be your doorbell gone faulty, anyone had a baby recently ? (Baby monitors play hell with my Home hub)

I finally contacted Ofcom last Friday, had a phone call in reply to my email within 10 mins.... :o

Ofcom guy came round tonight armed with some impressive kit.....took him all of five mins to identify the problem.

Next door's Sky magic eye had gone faulty, and was transmitting a constant signal flooding the area. Embarresment for them then...she was telling me the other day how fed up she was with her BMW locking playing up, and how her TV picture had got very poor... ;D

A fascinating educational thread John, which one assumes could affect anyone when such a device goes wrong and now we are all fore warned! 8-) 8-)

Glad you got it all sorted in the end! :y
