Check plugs wells, esp No4 for water - often rain comes through scuttle into No4

The plug wells and coil pack was cleaned 2 weeks ago.

I recently changed:
- new fuel filter.
- cleaned the butterfly valve.
- new plugs

That is just additional info.

Cheers,
Olari

Hi ,

I try to explain 2 situations where Omega (2,2 bensin, mileage 245 000km, manual) starts behave strange. Might be that these are related to the same sensor or problem:
  • When driving during a lot of rain (90km/h) the car engine engines starts to create small vibration when adding more gas. Strange noise comes in during acceleration. I do not know, if the lambda or crankshaft sensor becomes wet in those conditions and gives false data to the ECU? This behavior is noted always when driving very wet conditions. And no DTC-s detected after the events.
  • Another story is during cold morning -5C/-10C, the engine starts well with the first turn. 5-8 seconds runs well and then shuts down. After second ignition turn the problem disappears. And I have noted this also just in cold mornings.

If anybody has any similar experience, I would be glad to start discussions. I have a feeling that is electrical related but.....
I have OBD and garage to able double check the recommendations.

Cheers,
Olari

Omega General Help / Q:Fuel flap hinge repair, Omega FL?
« on: 17 April 2013, 21:44:02 »
Something happened to the 2001 Omega FL fuel flap during the filling up the car.
I found a small white cylinder part from the hinge system, which has came loose somehow.

Unscrewing the 2 torx screws, still  it was not possible  to get access to the hinge system. Is there any opportunity to get access to the hinge and glue the loose part, or it will be waste of time???

If somebody has any experience, how to cut loose the unit then any instruction is welcome.

Cheers in advance,
Olzz

« on: 30 March 2013, 15:24:08 »
Hi,

Im driving with Omega Estate 2,2 gasoline, since 2001.  Rough winter has done negative effect for the car suspension- rear shock absorbers feel too soft.

I have one set of rear absorbers from 2,2 bensin donor Omega. Does anybody have a instruction, how to test absorbers good fit before fitting?
There is no oil leakage noted about the replacement ones.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Xenon problems
« on: 18 February 2013, 17:21:42 »
Hi

The Phillips bulb became violent and it had also problems with igniting. Once i ignited, then it kept lighted.
After this happening, I bought no-name brand. The bulb work color is 4300K, but on early morning when it is cold, the bulb does not ignite with the first switch.

I have feeling that this is still ballast which cause this problem.

Of course easiest way is to switch bulbs with other side, where OEM Phillips is located. I have to wait the wormed days.

Thank you for your replies,
OLzz

Hi,

Seems that my Omega has similar problems, that during cold the HID is not starting up. After turning the light switch, the bulb ignites. Most probalby the ballast is faulty.

Anybody knows which electronic component becomes old in ballast? Guidleines to repair will help a lot.

Thank you in advance,

Best Regards,
Olzz

Hi all,

I'm in the middle of installing a new Wahler  thermostat to Omega and have a question related to airing. Im not going to flush out the coolant, but still there will be small amount of air penetrating to system when doing the job.

How to get air out of the cooling system? Any instruction or DYI manual is welcome.

Thank you in advance,
Olzz

Omega General Help / Omega 2001 FL rear differential very hot!
« on: 14 August 2012, 11:16:52 »
Hello! I am asking little bit information regarding the Omega rear differential liftetime and reliability.

Current Omega(2001 2,2 bensin, manual, 24000KM milage) differential becomes very hot after 100-200km of drive, there is also hot oil smell coming behind of car. Differential is so hot, that you cant hold a hand on it.

Oil level is checked and ther is no huge leakage noted around the differential itself. Only notable thing is that 70-80km/h there is slight vibation in car, coming maybe from differential or shaft. Could be bearings inside the differential?

Anybody has experiance how long Omega differential will last and what to change there and how big investment it will be?  Any help welcome.

The scrapyard has avaiable  asecond hand differential from Omega  2003 2,2 bensin, ATM 135000miles. Can this be fitted to my Omega(transmission ratio?) wwithout a problem or it is wise to change the worn out parts in that differetnai las well?

Cheers,

Omega General Help / Re: Coolant header tank level sensor
« on: 09 April 2012, 21:03:15 »
Hey!

I would like to direct the topic back to the coolant level sensor.

Coolant level warning popped up to the LCD screen week ago and I was surprised about this event(coolant tank replaced 2 years ago with brand new one).

Closer inspection revelaed that the golf ball is floating loose in the tank. Tried to stick back to arount the plastic molding, but no luck. I have nerver heard that the golf ball becomes loose in side the the tank.

Any experience to fix it?

Cheers,
Olzz

Omega General Help / Re: Condensation in headlight.
« on: 30 December 2011, 10:38:56 »
There is a battery uninstallation needed before any your proposed operations. Which is annoying job, if it has to be done every weekend....

Another proposal to leave one of the opening open for a while, then the next topic will raise - dust in the front light casing. Not a good thing either...

Strange thing is that, I havent experienced something like this during 10 year history of the car maitenance.

My  goal remains the same- to find the cause-how the water/humidity penetrates into the casing.

Olari

Hello Vauxhall Omega Owners!

I have to raise the topic regardign the condesation in front light(HID) again.  I changed my xenon bulb on the passenger side in June and now lamp housing is full of water droplets.
Last weekend already used the hairdryer drying  trick and put silicone lubricant on the covering gap and rubber sealing after installation. 2 days it was ok, but the droplets returned again.

Does anybody know, where are the weak points in the front light, where the water can penetrate in?

(Car has no crash record and the front lights are defect free).

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Omega 2001-electrical harnesses
« on: 16 September 2011, 21:05:16 »
Gents!

I have instlalled now the new door loom for driver door. And also connected(just for test purposes) the new rear door loom and motor to the connector, found in the lower seatbelt mounting.
The new door switch module was not moving the rear window motor. The front windows were working OK.

Does anybody know if some software activation is required for having rear electric windows working? Or relay/fuse missing

Thanks,
Olari

RobG! Do you know where are the closest connection points for those rear door looms? The central door/window module on the right side of the gas pedal?

I have the Opel Omega, but the donor car is Vauxhall Omega. Not sure, if those wires can plug-and-play...?

Thanks,
Olari

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Omega 2001-electrical harnesses
« on: 14 August 2011, 21:20:25 »
Im starting on the project, to add some electrical accessories to my Opel Omega 2001. Therefore I need specialist confirmation if FL models have harness ready for:
-Making rear windows electric. Only electrical mechanisms needed for the doors and new electrical switch module to the front door?
- Rear reading lights- Just adding the lamp module to the hanger on each side?
- Front sunshade /make-up lamps. Requires just switching the new sunshades with lamps.

If anyone has experience with such project, then thanks for the info in advance.
