Q:Fuel flap hinge repair, Omega FL?
« on: 17 April 2013, 21:44:02 »

Something happened to the 2001 Omega FL fuel flap during the filling up the car.
I found a small white cylinder part from the hinge system, which has came loose somehow.

Unscrewing the 2 torx screws, still  it was not possible  to get access to the hinge system. Is there any opportunity to get access to the hinge and glue the loose part, or it will be waste of time???

If somebody has any experience, how to cut loose the unit then any instruction is welcome.

Cheers in advance,
Olzz

Removing the two screws on the hinge side of the filler opening allows the whole thing to come off the car. Just replace the whole thing if need be.

What Andy said :y

Attempting to fix it will probably make it worse. iirc, it is effectively a sealed unit :-\

I've had the same some years back in one of my Omegas and I also found a small white piece loose. It was one of the two "hinges". I tried to fix it three times without any luck so only possibility is to replace the whole thing as guys already said  :y

Plenty on e-bay, if you are lucky one in your colour, otherwise you may have to spray it. Beware, saloons and estate filler flaps are not interchangeable.

That's interesting. The rubber seal from an Astra G is the same as an Omega's though  :y
