IMHO this is an advice thread, not a sales thread.

Please can we all be a bit more welcoming.

If you have a problem, use the alert mod button, thats what its there for  :y

I agree, some people so put up proper adverts in the wrong place, being clearly wrong, to me this isnt one.

I think the issue was mate, that the person in question posted the same thing, in multiple other threads, not just this one.

Some of these have been deleted since you logged in, so you may not be basing your opinion on the whole picture.

Each one was a cut and paste job, with the same content, detailing the same car, same price, etc –posted in many threads, on the for sale board.

If it was just an "advice request" it wouldn't have also been plastered all over other peoples threads on the for "cars sale" board.

To see this posted in so many boards, in such a short space of time, did give a clear impression that it was an attempt to circumvent the post count rules…

That said – the chap has apologised, has been decent about it, and no harm done, so let’s worry about more important things, like enjoying the nice weather .... (and fixing exploding fuel tanks  ;D  :y )

James - Thank you for your news at 11! :y

but just to clarify some points -

*2 other posts not "many" as you put it
*Although not CUT n PASTED, it reads very similar as it concerns the same dilemma and the same car!
*Not JUST for sale but CARS FOR SALE & WANTED threads

I feel you have expressed a relatively bias account of the actual eventualities of the early hours of today - the picture you paint of me is indeed deformative as your selcetion of words evident this.

As Deleting straight away is surely a good thing - it shows acknowledgment of an oversight put right - rather than cunningness as you explain.

You only mention the Sale aspects of it - what about the wanted sections??  Also, as I clearly say - I was in 2 minds at the time, stressed due to its costs and desperately seeking some options - hence the 3 posting in short time.  I believe a reasonable person would have done just that what I did - my acknowledgement of peoples advice and indeed alerts were addressed and resolved immediately.

the clear impression you talk about is a matter of opinion - I 100% know my situation and believe me, would not deliberately break any rule that I am aware of - but as soon as I realise an error on my part - I will always be the first to put my hands up and rectify whatever I can.

I sincerely hope you and others see that.

I put it to you -

Hey Andy B  ;)

I honestly cannot afford a 2nd car! ! !  I have however considered a moped tho! ;D ;D
a) they are cheaper than a car in all ways
b) they wizz through traffic (ever so annoying to CAR drivers :D) potentially means saving time and stress!
and c) the weather's treating us well at the mo . . .

Jimbob - with my utmost respect, I would like to say Thank you for this verdict.   I am relieved in knowing that we have received an authorative opinion on this matter.   :y

Individuals ought not allege or indeed assert assumptive perceptions publically in the absence of exhausting amicable methods initially - where they are promoted unambiguously on each posting.  furthermore, such hostility is most certainly contrary to OOF's culture.

All others - thank you for your justice.   :y

Mr B - From the history booklet it seems it was last serviced at 96K?  is that bad? :o

Hi Mr B - Thank you once again! Yes - It is very quiet now and certainly smoother and better moving off but STILL heavy on consumpion esp around my work n back trip :o Anything else you can advise?? LOVE TO HEAR MORE FROM YOU PAL! :-?  btw - is a overall average fuel consuption of 21MPG reasonable???  Im still comparing it with me previous one which was a 2.2 :o

Mr Skruntie -As surely you will accept - I have - at the very first instance and indeed oportunity - expressed my regret in this matter.  Even prior to your message (see the writing in red) Furthermore, I have identified the potential breech.  But do note that I am not here to impress you or anybody for that matter - I am merely here to learn and socialise with the many wonderful, friendly and helpful people that share a passion for Omega's - JUST LIKE ME.  I have already requested Admin to use their discretion and decide upon this thread.

In all fairness I didnt have a problem with this thread (100% honest) but what you said in the red writing was after you had posted in 2 more different threads.  I really have no interest in dragging this out, but no matter who says what to me, I did not make the rules, and yes I have said what I have said, I was sympathetic as I read the 1st (This one) then realised you were just trying to sell it.  ( let the comments start - am happy to start a new thread for you all to have a go at me)

dear friend,  I really do not wish to engage in a posting war with you however, this is a baseless alligation - I responded in red as soon as James, very kindly brought the potential breech to my attention.  please do not make assumptions.

secondly, with regard to the othe postings - I have removed them straight away and will even remove this one as soon as you have had your last say.  because I do not want you to feel that I am avoiding you.  yes I am new here, have a lot of learning to do and perhaps made a mistake however, I certainly appreciated James's approach a whole lot better - to put it simply.

To the Others: I sincerely apologise. Never realised the potential probs that I am causing.  thank you for your consideration.

Careful this isn't construed as a for sale thread.

The simple answer, if you love the car, is LPG it  :y

Of course it is, if it wasnt there would be no need for a price.  ::)

Selling tips.

Clean it thouroughly inside and out, then stand back and admire it, call your self names then go and price up fitting LPG.

If you still decide it's for sale then do a short but decriptive ad of all the things to stop all the queations being asked.  Add £100 on more than you want as you will allways be knocked down, or go straight in at £995 on autotrader with good pictures.  Or being the cheeky sod that you are cross your fingers and hope that someone on here is interested before Admin call you a cheeky bugger and delete this thread.  :y :y

in all honesty - the price is there only for peeps here.  I would never let that go outside of here for that little >:(

nevertheless, I appreciate your advice and indeed can now fully understand that my thread is potentially in breech. BUT I WILL SAY. . .

I am generally hoping someone here will say, hey have you "changed this" or "replaced that", "try this" or "try that"  as a tried n tested method of improving consumption! ! !

Yeh I know they are a little heavy on fuel generally but im currently doing 60 odd miles daily in stop start, crawl etc etc  :'( :'( and quiet frankly its killing me! :-/ :-/

Hi,

Im in two minds whether I should sell my Omega and need some serious advice.  I love omega's but cant afford to run it to work n back everyday  :-[

WHAT DO I DO???? its a lovely car, with usual extras as its a 2000 (W) 2.5v6 CD auto -bodywork in excellent condition with long MOT and low miles (102K) with lots of history! ! !

it has just had both its Cats replaced and drives like new!

I'm going to let it go for £850 (even tho it cost me a lot more less than a month ago ) but I would much rather it go to someone on here as I know how helpful everyone is!

im based in Notts, if you want a honest INDIPENDANT  opinion ask "the Baron" he's actually driven it! lol

any tips on selling it would be appreciated!

cheers!

Hi All

Right. . . I have now added an extension plastic piece to the dongle which most people advised was causing the problem - it is say 20mm longer than before. :-/ :-/

. . . I have also doconnected the power sounder - again thanks to your support and advice, I believe the car now is, at the least, not a fire hazard! in the process of removing it I broke the skuttle which has a crack along where the arm of the wiper goes  >:(- the wiper arm was a tough cookie but I jus needed that little bit more to het to the connecter plug! ! ! and sadly cracked it  :-[ :-[

. . . .I have now alarmed the car using the fob, so far so good!  :y :y

so unless I have committed a grave sin by breaking the scuttle. . . everything should be ok - and MAYBE jus MAYBE. . . .we can all sleep in peace! ;D ;D :D ;) :y

Cheers peeps!

Fellow Omega Owners (esp AMBA. . .) No more bets! ! !

I have just returned from a non-residential area to 'eliminate' bonnet switch syndrome. . . which was a noisy mission to say the least but nevertheless, here are my findings:-

1) switch seems fine - half hearted yippeeee (?)

test 1a) opened the bonnet, pushed down the dongle / on switch, alarmed the car using fob, waited bout 30s and let go of switch / dongle- alarm went off!

test 1b) pressed the lock button on fob alarm went off and left the dongle unpressed (as in full out) - bout 5s later - alarm went off again! >:(

test 1c) kept the dongle fully pressed in, alarned the car using key fob, wated about 30s - alarm blairing again!

THEREFORE> > > >  I am going to remove the powersounder thigamy bob tomorrow during lunch break :)  eventhough I am literally a natural blonde (no offense intended) with car mechanics and electrix but after reading the kind web links above - quite frankly im petrified!!!!!  :o

just one more / last thing peeps. . . . (assuming I manage to remove the powersounder thigammy bob 8-) ) do I just insulation tape it and forget about it like a bad dream????? :-? :-? :-?

to everyone!

Guys u make me proud - in one day i have been made so welcome and it seems u ppl have gone many extra miles to help me out! THANK YOOOOOOOOOOOUUUU!

ok. . . tried the bonnet switch thing (not very good at DIY :-/) basically I removed the bottom "plug" of it so its disconnected - no joy! went further to push a paper clip down each end of the plug bit so it "thinks" everythings all good! - but it didnt like that at all - so kept going off pretty much immediately! now everything is back to sqware (lol) uno! ie bonnet switch connected etc etc.

I am so eager to try the "powersound" idea - but what one of those?? as aposed to a actual alarm??

when my cars <blankety blank>  goes off on one -  a) all indicators flash b) theres a horn sound on/off/on/off etc and c) it only stops if i press "open" button on fob!  wont stop if i press "lock" button etc. . . so anyone know anyone in notts that can sort this out for us???

my wife, kids n most certainly ME . . . . oh n the whole neighbourhood will very much appreciate it! ! !
