Hey, I went there too. After 35k mls in an E39 wagon I can say it's a lot faster. but only 2mpg better. Different bits fall off. Parts are more readily available in Ireland, miss the sunroof.
Pity Opel/Vaux didn't do the common rail 2.5 with a strong autobox.

On a 94 model I had, I couldn't get the manifold off. I'd say it took 4 hours. It's also easier if all the oil filter bolts were never replaced!!! But 1 hour is fast!!

Tried the dropshop thing ,but was not obvious to a luddite.
Both cars now sold. I think the engines are heading to Lithuania.
Road tax for aTd here is now €1005 PA.

Two available. 97Dreg green Elite model Black recaro sports leather, recent Headlights , rad ,self levelers, intermittent gearbox fault, wont shift to 3rd sale includes spare AR35 transmission.Lot of rust scabs on doors boot. NCT till end 4-12 , detachable hitch 5 good tyres

Blue 99 S reg UK. Everything except leather. It has , xenons, mem seats mirrors satnav ,phone, bose sound with amp & sub hitch 5 good tyres , lift pump in tank faulty so hard to start with less than 20 l in tank so comes with 30. some scabs on pass side. no tax or mot.

Both cars start hot or cold.

Spares. AR35 autobox, torque converter for 3.0 new track rod ends both sides, lower wishbone front. oil filter ,air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter, JPAT auto kit with sump gaskets & filter for AR23 AR35 gm autobox. complete bose sound system with amp sub spkrs.

Would there be any interest? 97 Dublin reg with black Recaro leather NCt till may sometimes doesn't select 3rd, comes with AR35 in boot.
99 Sreg no mot/tax no leather. both in north dublin will pex with anything pre 1980.

engine ecu won't mind if it has no ABS connection - it'll need an immobiliser connection tho.

BUT, you'd probably want to run with the BMW ecu anyway, as its much better.

Transmission ECU won't mind either.

Will the engine & box be happy with an ecu from a 525TDS?

I have two rusty TD elite auto estates in the driveway . If I can fit an engine and auto into a vintage Bmw 525 will the ecu mind if there are no speed signals from ABS.
I doubt I have enough posts for a parts/classified ad but ! One is S reg no leather. Other is 97 Dublin reg with black Recaro leather. Both in Dublin.

Lazy starter! will it turn over fast when hot?
Plastic cover! Just break it off, it's flimsy.
The hot start thing just puts a resistor in series with pump temp sensor, 2kohm thin grey wire on ecu poss with colour stripe.

My worst offender for bad hot start would flash eml on overrun and go to limp if throttle pressed while light on.

I made one for my 2.5TD. It would just start with full batt & I also carried a spare. 2K2 resistor in series with pump temp sensor. But lazy starter was the problem , and sorting that fixed every thing.

I stupidly believed mechanic friend, it would add 50 microns to to everything. use two tins and that would be 100. trying to improve CR on Fiat 130 coupe, the guy down the road said his would do 130, put hole in piston at 125 , already over redline. SNAKEOIL. I was youmger then obviously.
