Omega General Help / MV6 cooling problems
« on: 30 October 2010, 19:43:26 »
Hi/

I am struggling to work out my cooling problem. The fans seem to kick in when they feal like it. The fans some times kick in and then sometimes they dont even upto 100 iI have changed the temp sensor in the rad. Has any one any idea? The temp goes upto 100 and then i turn the engine off.

Many Thanks,
Jamie

Misfire is all the time. The car is a 3.0 MV6 2000 W reg. I shall take off the coil/dis  pack for the codes.

Thanks for the responses. I took it to the local garage as i suspected a head gasket problem. They did a full compression test which was ok. Changed the leads and plugs and came up with the idea of the coil pack. (made sense to me), they was going to charge me £300 in labour alone so i will do the change myself. This car is my 3.0 MV6. I have changed the rocker cover gaskets on my 2.5 V6 so i should be ok doing the coil pack.

hi/

Can anyone help me out. I beleive the coil pack is not working properly it appears that the car is not firing on all cylinders. There is no management light on.

Is there any other suggestions? Also is it easy to replace?

Thanks

I have no problems dismantling the engine, its just when coming to the cambelt and ensuring they line up when instaling the new belt etc. Any suggestion or previous experience?

Many Thanks

Omega General Help / Head Gasket replacement - Over heating
« on: 03 August 2010, 17:08:00 »
Hi/

Car lost power today. Suspected head gasket failure (white smoke and water out of exhaust pipe), this was due to the car overheating (fans never kicked in). The Omega is an ex-police MV6 with only 66,000 miles on the clock (W reg). Is it easy for the head gaskets to be replaced, i have replaced both rocker cover gaskets previously, so i have already stripped the top part of the engine. Any advice?

Thanks,
Jamie

Despite being slapped down i have done my MV6 and both my 2.5cdx cars  from a supplier off ebay and after 40,000 after the change (2.5 v6) still no leaks. My electric fans on the MV6 have now stopped but thats a different matter. LOL

Its worth looking on ebay as you can buy a complete set for approx 60 pounds to do the complete engine

So i have three options abs faulty, wishbone bushes or discs.

I assume then that i can take the sensors out and the abs (if it is this) would not judder, as its not sensing. With the wishbone i would thought this would happen all the time? I will check the discs but it seems strange that it can happen straight away, like flicking a switch i thought you might see some deterioration

it happened all of a sudden. the car was fine then not used for a two weeks (due to heavy snow), then when i used it the juddering started.

Omega General Help / ABS is always on
« on: 28 July 2010, 08:25:37 »
Hi/

It appears that my abs is always on when I brake. I would assume this is down to a faulty sensor. Is it possible to remove each sensor and test i.e drive up the road to see which one is at fault? Or is there another way

Thanks,
Jamie
